Makes great, strong, and hot coffee. Definitely as good as home with no plastic taste or other distraction. However, beware, the pause and serve feature can cause the water to back up if the carafe is placed under the strainer and the spring based pause and serve trigger isn't pushed back a little with your finger. Frustrated us at first and made a mess. Don't know why there would be this risk. But easily solved....just pay attention.
