    Product Description

If you have a SLR or DSLR camera and other maker/mount lenses, the Fotodiox Mount Adapters allow you to use your lenses on the film/digital camera body. Sharing lenses has some distinct advantages. Certain prime lens just can't be replaced, and you save the cost of purchase on new lenses. Fotodiox offers a range of adapter from large format to smaller format digital adapters.

This Fotodiox lens mount adapter is made with high standard precision. The leaf spring design in the Adapter holds the lens tight to the camera body ensuring there is no play between the camera and the lens. This adapter allows all Olympus OM lenses to fit on a Canon EOS SLR/DSLR camera body.

Although the lens will fit physically, automatic diaphragm, auto-focusing, or any other functions will not operate correctly while using this adapter. In this case "stop-down mode" will need to be used when metering since the lens does not have the ability to have its aperture controlled by the camera body. You can shoot with manual mode or aperture priority mode. Infinity focusing is allowed.

    Compatible Cameras (including, but not limited to): 1d/1ds, Mark II, III, IV, X, C, 5D, 5D Mark II/III 7D, 10D, 20D, 30D, 40D, 50D, 60D, 60Da, Rebel xt, xti, xs, xsi, t1i, T2i, T3, T3i, T4, 300D, 350D, 400D, 450D, 500D, 550D, 1000D

A useful adapter, with a few issues

A useful adapter, with a few issues
This review is of the "Standard" Nikon F to Canon EOS EF adapter sold by Fotodiox. As with any of these adapters the "automatic" lens features are disabled, and with digital cameras the "35mm equivalent" focal length is increased, by about 50% on the camera I have, due to the image sensor being smaller than a 35mm frame. But it allows Nikon-mount lenses to be used on a Canon EOS camera, and while I confirmed some problems noted in the 1-star reviews, this adapter isn't expensive, and the severity of the problems likely varies between examples. The one I got worked for my purpose, which was to attach a lens I had on hand to test a camera body I found "bin-diving" at a local emporium.I am grateful for the reviews noting the "loose screw" issue with the release lever for the Nikon lens. Checking the screw on my example, it not only allowed the lever to move sideways, but was so loose it would soon fall out no matter how it was adjusted. If it had a non-threaded section near the head it would be possible to tighten it leaving the lever free to move, but the makers of this adapter used an ordinary screw and left it loose. The problem can be corrected with a little lacquer or glue on the threads. To avoid gumming up the mechanism I inserted a dab of epoxy through the "back" side of the threaded hole, then adjusted the loose screw for proper operation of the lever, so the end threads would engage the epoxy. The "too tight" problem is a bigger issue. I had no trouble with the fit to the camera, a Canon EOS Digital Rebel DS6041 (300D), though it was tighter than a "T" mount adapter I tried. But the lens was hard to dismount due to the design of the "springs" on the adapter. These are made by spreading a slot cut into the body material and behave more like "wedges." Aluminum does not make a good spring, and the amount the slots are spread does not seem well controlled. It may be possible to adjust the spread for a given lens, but I have just been tolerating the problem. The tight fit can result in side force on the locking pin making it hard to retract, which complicates removal of the lens. For those not concerned with the higher price, the "Pro" version of the adapter appears to have properly designed springs. On the positive side, the adapter seems to position the lens properly so the numbers on the focus scale are about right. It allows infinity focus with the lenses I tried, and maybe even a little "beyond infinity" to cover tolerances. With some minor rework, and checking that it won't get stuck in the camera, the low-cost "Standard" adapter can be very useful, so I'll give it a 3-star "OK" rating despite the noted problems.

Fit perfectly onto my Canon T2i, and let me use my 50mm f1.9 X-Fujinon.

Fit is solid and wiggle free, close focus distance is correct, and focus to infinity works as far as I can tell.
