I found this autobiography to be charming, insightful and, above all, eloquently articulate - yet still retaining the author's unique style of communicating. Indeed, it seemed at times as if I could hear Mr. Cagney reading the words aloud to me as I followed the text. Some may criticize the work as not-too-revealing in terms of the directors and others in whom he found little favor, but it was refreshing to find a man - so well known as hard-edged and mean in many of his films - to be a gracious gentleman in his treatment of others. Like millions of other fans, I have always admired James Cagney as an actor. I now admire him equally as a gentleman and an author.
