Disclaimer: First impressions after 2 days of office and gaming work. Skip to bottom for Summary and TLDR.Design:The matte black finish of the mouse is sleek and not distracting or overwhelming. The mouse wins "gamer" points with the stylistically placed sharp edges. The mouse is ambidextrous with symmetrical button placement and removable/replaceable M4 and M5 buttons and covers for the sides. The M4 and M5 buttons are a gloss finish like the center portion of the mouse. Unfortunately, the RGB lighting is only used on the Logitech G logo, which is covered by the user's palm during normal use, and the DPI setting indicator lights, which are obscured by the pointer and middle finger during use.Use:The battery life of this mouse is one of the main selling points over other mice and it shows. The tactile feel of the buttons is excellent, especially due to the matte finish of the primary RMB and LMB. Without the optional weight, the mouse weighs about the same as Logitech's cheaper wireless mice (the one I have on hand being the M317c). The mouse has a very long body, which means it may not be as suitable for people with smaller hands. The lack of a thumb rest means the thumb sits a bit higher, my thumb being exactly between the M4 and M5 buttons. Unfortunately, this leads me to often accidentally click the M4 and M5 button, or press both when trying to press one.Accessories:The mouse comes with a full-length braided Micro-USB cable for wired use and a 2.4GHz receiver. Logitech includes a small USB passthrough which connects the cable to the wireless receiver to make accessing the charging cable easier. The receiver, passthrough, optional weight, and replacement M4/M5 buttons and covers for left-handed use all come in a small case.On the bottom of the mouse is a circular disk which is used for the optional weight or the POWERPLAY attachment. The mouse unfortunately does not have a compartment for the wireless receiver, making portability not as efficient.Software:Logitech Gaming Software is the hub for customizing the mouse, in addition to other Logitech and Logitech G products. The mouse is automatically recognized by the software when plugged in and prompts POWERPLAY set-up. The menu for the G903 allows profiles to be made for lighting, DPI, and Macros. It also includes a battery menu which shows power consumption. It has full compatibility with games and applets like Overwolf that work in-tandem with the Logitech Gaming Software, though it is worth noting the software's included lighting options are limited. Logitech G mice can be calibrated to any mat or surface of your choice to improve sensor functionality. Because of the Plug-and-Play functionality of the mouse, the software is not required. Additionally, the profiles created in the software are saved on the mouse meaning macros, DPI settings, and lighting will all be consistent from PC to PC even if Logitech Gaming Software is not installed.Price:This mouse offers a few extra features over other, cheaper alternatives within the Logitech G brand. Compared to the $84 G703, this mouse includes built-in ambidextrous options, one extra usable button (unless you use the left-handed buttons with your ring or pinky fingers), and a mechanical switch for the scroll wheel mode.At under half the price at $45, the G502 Proteus Core similarly includes DPI up and down, M4 and M5, and scroll wheel mode toggle. However, the G502 also includes a Profile Switching button on the top of the mouse, a DPI Shift button, and a thumb rest. This does give up the wireless and POWERPLAY functionality of the G703 and G903. (The number of available macro keys is misleading for the G903 due to the ambidextrous option to put M4/M5 on the right side of the mouse)This price does not include the $100 POWERPLAY system which is one of the advertised features over the G900 series predecessors.Other thoughts:I am genuinely worried this mouse will be a dust and grime trap, as the decorative slits next to the thumb are reminiscent of the texture on the thumb rest of the G502.While the description claims it is good for all grip types, the placement of the M4/M5 buttons and the size of the mouse means a palm grip is the most optimal.I agree with many reviewers that it would have been nice to see USB-C over USB-Micro as a means of future-proofing the mouse.If you like other Logitech G mice and are looking for a wireless option, the G903 is a good choice. It struggles with not making many (if any) improvements to the G900 line. If you do not need a wireless mouse or are not interested in the POWERPLAY functionality, I would look into the G502 or other equivalent wired options which will give you more functionality for a lower price. Personally, I have used my G502 to the point where the cable is fraying where it contacts the desk, and am waiting for Logitech to restock the POWERPLAY mats.I would love if Logitech made a G503 that's a wireless version of the G502 with Powerplay functionality. <3So in summary:Pros:- Long battery life in addition to POWERPLAY functionality- Ambidextrous design- Quality construction- Light weight (with optional weight included)- Includes expected customization features like Lighting, DPI, and MacrosCons:- Bad RGB Lighting placement- Price compared to other Logitech G options- No Receiver Compartment (for portability)- Questionable M4/M5 button placement and finishTLDR;Don't buy for RGB or portability. Ambidextrous with excellent build and customization.
