Gamevice is a cool contraption that brings tactile controls to your iPhone or iPad (different versions). The controls feel great and truly emulate a console controller experience. If you already have an iPad here's a way to step up the gaming experience especially for longer gaming sessions.

Once attached to my iPhone 7+, I was happy to find that the unit does not weigh much (although some might complain about the plasticky feel), is easy to hold and use for long periods of time, and make a HUMUNGOUS difference in control versus the touchscreen. This specifically refers to action games of course, as touchscreen is already perfect for turn based games, etc. But to put this in perspective, I finally beat the racing missions in GTA: San Andreas, whereas I could never get the touchscreen to respond fast enough before. I have also had a lot of success with platformers, first person shooters, and even have been streaming emulators off my PC using the app KinoConsole. It’s performed well in each case.
Aside from the stiff buttons/d-pad, the other major complaint I’ve heard about the GameVice is that the lightning plug on the right-hand side is fragile and can break, causing it to disconnect randomly with the phone. I have been very careful with it because of this, and so far so good. I don’t really expect to have any problems with it.
I have been really impressed by this controller, and frankly I can’t really understand why the reviews are so low. As long as you remember to push the buttons harder than usual, I highly recommend the Game Vice for anyone who plays games on iOS but struggles with touchscreen controls for action games.
I use this with my iPhone 6s+ to play games from my PC via the Moonlight app/Nvidia Gamestream.
Pros:
-great build quality: if a DS4 controller and XboxOne controller are around “10/10” for build quality, this is definitely an 8 or 9. Most key buttons and sticks feel solid, but with a little room for improvement. The case is sturdy and my phone fits very securely.
-plug and play: no 3rd party software needed. Though they do apparently have a free game library app that I have not tried
-does not noticeably suck up battery
-charging plug pass-through means I can charge and play indefinitely
Neutral:
-the shoulder buttons don’t register very well if you click on their outer edges; click great towards the center. This will come down to personal preference
Cons:
-No R3, L3, or select buttons. This REALLY puts a hamper on a LOT of games. Even if the thumb sticks couldn’t click to support these buttons, I feel like there is plenty of space to put them on the back of the device or somewhere else on the faceplate (like where the + and - buttons are on the Nintendo Switch). Hopefully future revisions will include these buttons. If so, I would buy another in a heartbeat, rate 5 stars, and recommend this product to everyone I know who plays games on a phone.
-the D-pad is pretty bad. I can only get it to register button presses about 50% of the time.
-iPhone speaker placement means sound quality through iPhone speakers is muffled and blocked by this case. Would be cool to see some sort of speaker built into a future revision for people that want better sound quality without using earphones.
I waited and waited. The wait is over. I loaded up Fortnite, works beautifully. Just wished the joysticks were buttons as well. Loaded up Minecraft, fantastic. Tested the controller’s boundaries and tried playing a game that’s not listed on the app AND IT WORKS SO PERFECTLY. 10/10 would buy again.
CONS:
-Joysticks aren’t buttons
-Buttons kinda hard to press but they’re managable
-Expensive unless you buy through another seller like I did

Do not buy!
I bought this to play minecraft on my iPhone with my lad.
Arrived, looks the business, nice and portable.
Plug into the lightning port on the phone. All good. Compatible with minecraft still good
So then, buttons don’t actually work very well, have to press 2-3x to respond, the plastic edges obscure the screen, so you can see what your doing. Really almost unplayable. The other thing it does is crashes the software repeatedly.
Just bought a rotor riot. This is like night and day. Works perfectly full screen.
I read the reviews for the game vice first and thought, ah just people moaning. Honesty it’s crap. Don’t waste your money. Spend the extra £15 on the rotor riot.
