I was hesitant about jumping in on Dark Souls 3. Last week I got Bloodborne which has a great vibe, but so far i am pretty poor at it. I'm glad that I didn't let that deter me from DS3. While the difficulty at first was a transition, mainly getting the timing down and stamina usage. I had to grind a good bit to around level 25 before i felt comfortable moving on past the first real boss. Now, things are moving quite well, although each new area I grind for about 5 levels before pushing through. I pulled an all nighter, last night, as this is absolutely one of the most addictive games EVER. So much more enjoyable than Witcher 3 which to me is more of a dialogue simulator than action game. The graphics look so detailed and focused, which I find far more top level than bloodborne. I'm using an Alienware 15 with the 980m, and I run it completely maxed out at a never dipping 60 fps. It's one of the best optimization that I have encountered in PC gaming. I read about some bugs, early on. The only one that affected me was about 3 crashes when designing my character. Once I got past that, I have not experienced a single bug or crash in game. I played for roughly 7 hours straight with no issues and a relatively cool laptop. I highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys world class action/adventure games. A game of the year, so far, in my mind. 0 Comments Subscribe to thread (?)
As its reputation precedes, this game is an epic, monster-slaying adventure RPG with highly engaging boss battles. A game that teaches (and demands) patience and careful observation. You'll gain power, vanquish corrupt spirits, and battle to keep your undead keaster intact.
The graphics are nothing short of stunning. The game is well optimized for PC and I've never encountered a performance issue.
Like the classic games of a bygone era, the plot is largely left to inference. Nothing is spelled out for you, which is lovely because it leaves room for your imagination to fill in the blanks, prompt discussion amongst fellow players, and promote fan theories. There is lore, but you must delve deeply to find it. When you do discover it, some subjectivity is intentionally left to allow you to decide a little of how things are for yourself.
For some, the lack of unidirectionality can be frustrating or even tiresome. But for explorers who thirst for challenging fights, the game will keep your attention for many hours. It even has a cooperative mode where you can summon a friend to join you in the spelunking beat-down.
Twitch gamer material only in my opinion. Great game for that crowd, I do not deny. But if expecting a thoughtful, considered and strategic game, forget it. I thought I could give it a shot but it was a mistake - $60 down the drain. Do not buy if an RPG/turn based type player. If a twitch/shooter type of gamer then I'm certain it's one of best in the genre. So a 1 or 2 from my gaming preference but a 4 or 5 for others, I'm sure. Know your gaming style and think carefully before buying. This game will lay you to waste if you stray outside of an RPG/turn based comfort zone like I did.
I love playing it, and if youve played dark souls in the past and you liked it, youll love this as well. It accomodates new dark souls players pretty well too. I was hoping that maybe the game would have a slighly different feel that the other ones, but it doesnt really. Once you learn the enemy's move attacks, they become ridiculously easy. But thats just me. Still had fun beating bosses and having a classic dark souls expirience. Oh yeah, graphics look really good.
GREAT GAME! Dark souls and bloodeborne are my favorite game series. Fast download and runs great on my PC. The PC controls are pretty good, but it really shines with a controller. Tons of customization options for graphics; I play the game all the time when I'm travelling.
The combat is closer to bloodeborne than DS1, DS2. Dodges are snappier and animations are smoother, but sword and board is back. Bloodborne was more about dodges and parries, but DS3 gives you both defensive options.
The multiplayer is smooth and the removal of soul memory means DS3 will stay relevant a long time. I'm super sad it's the last in the series, but I'm looking forward to the DLC. The only problem I have is the season pass pricing model, but that's an industry change, not specific to this game.
