As for my purchase and delivery, I pre-ordered the standard CD with the random cover (I got 2D) and with my Amazon Prime membership I got free 2-day shipping, so it arrived the day of the release! Pre-order is the way to go if your buying an album on amazon because you'll get the lowest price available up until the release date. My final total came to $10.97, I think the album was about $2 more on Gorillaz store-site (not including shipping and handling). Whether you prefer to buy it somewhere else or on the official site doesn't matter as long as you feel comfortable with your purchase. For 20 songs, it was a great price and it was delivered on time through UPS! Overall I'm happy with my purchase and the album!
For Humanz, that's what I was looking fore; a way to listen to the album before buying it...and I ended up buying the deluxe version, lol. Will all the songs go onto my iPod? Probably not...but they were worth it enough, for me, to not go w/ the regular one (20 songs is still a lot tho, so that's not too bad). If you're able, the deluxe version is worth it; if it's too outside of your price range, the regular version is still good, :)
I enjoyed all the songs they put out before the official album release. It was just so great to have Gorillaz back. Yet after listening to the whole album, I found some of the tracks to be hit or miss. Like with most new albums from a band who hasn't released a album in a long time, it takes multiple listenings to really get a good feel of it.
Gorillaz have always been about having collaborators be apart of their music. Yet with Humanz, there were some tracks that you won't even know they were Gorillaz tracks. Some tracks just had Damon giving back-up vocals in the background which didn't add much to the song. Then there were other tracks like Charger feat. Grace Jones, you'd think with such a icon you'd get a great collab song, but Jones hardly added much to the track except some repeated short verses. While I'm sure most of the tracks will grow on me more the more I listen to them, there are definitely some tracks I don't think I'll ever get into.
I got the digital deluxe version of the album, It has 26 tracks on it, but it only runs 1 hr and 12 mins so it does not feel that long of a listen at all.
It is great to have Gorillaz back though. I am eager for the release of their animated series coming out next year. As for this album, if you are a Gorillaz veteran like myself, I'd say try to have a open mind about it, but I agree that this project is very different from their past work.
I promise you, there's more to unfold than the first listen. It's more than just political commentary, and it's not breaking character of the fictional group. In fact, it's building character. The tracks themselves are enjoyable too, and many of my friends who didn't enjoy it the first time like I did said the songs grew on them their second listens and after.

My favorite has got to be the transitions. All the songs tie up in some way so it plays seamlessly and doesn't break the experience. The interludes are also very well done and it's what helps brings things together for me. The bonus tracks feel like they should be on the main album since they're all just as nice sounding as the main tracks (especially 'Out of Body').
If you like a more rap, party kind of sounds (with some nice slow paced songs here there) then give this album a go.
