Editorial Reviews

By The Way, I Forgive You is not an album about forgiveness in the easy sense where someone has hurt you and then suddenly there's a great reconciliation and a remorse filled scene with two people running across the golden wheatfield towards an embrace that somehow undoes a lifetime of pain and damage, as if the past has no meaning. It's about radical acceptance (not to be confused with complacency) and unconditional love.

Another amazing album to add to my Brandi Carlile collection...

Another amazing album to add to my Brandi Carlile collection...
I pre-ordered Brandi's album on Amazon, totally convinced I would receive an autographed CD. I was crushed when I got an unsigned CD in the mail, but quickly realized my devastation was a #firstworldproblem (& likely due to my own misunderstanding). With that aside, I can't express just how grateful I am to Brandi and the twins for KILLING it again. 'By the way, I forgive you' is an incredibly special album. It seems to get better and better with each listen. I heard 'Every Time I Hear That Song' in December 2017 on YouTube shortly after receiving an apology letter from someone I had not associated with in 6 years. I was a little surprised to see that it was the first song on the album as I feel it would have been a great last song. Then again, forgiveness should be prioritized. We shouldn't wait until "the end" to forgive ourselves or to forgive others. The first time I listened to the album all the way through in my car, 'Hold Out Your Hand' was playing, and I kid you not-- everyone in the truck ahead of me held out their hands for the duration of the song. My windows were up, but I'd like to imagine they were listening to the song in their truck, too. :) Thanks again for another beautiful album.
