Terrence Corcoran, recovering from injuries he received breaking up a cattle rustling gang, stumbles onto a grisly scene high in the Monitor Range of central Nevada.

That discovery nets him a charming teenage girl from a ranch in the valley, an old army scout who has never lost his abilities, and some wild rides through the Nevada desert in pursuit of Humboldt Charley and a gang of murderers, bank robbers, and kidnappers.

Town marshals protect criminal elements, three county sheriffs become involved, and Corcoran discovers at least one more person from his past is looking to put him six-feet under. It was the robbing of a bank in Belmont that started the problems and the pathetic end to the gang that ended them.

I’ve had a wonderful and varied time along this bumpy highway called life. I spent my early years in Santa Cruz, California, swimming, fishing, and wallowing in the splendor of redwoods, the Monterey Bay, and a loving family. Then, my four years of high school were spent living on the Island of Guam. That was back in the early 1950s Yes, Virginia, I am that old, but only in body, not spirit.

My first job in radio was in 1958. I bought the Virginia City Legend newspaper in that old western mining community in 1971, and retired from having a job in 2010. That’s when I changed from being a reporter of news to being a writer of fiction, and over these last few years have found my western and crime/mystery stories published as novels and in magazines and anthologies, around the world.

My beautiful wife Patty and I live on a small hobby farm about twenty miles north of Reno, Nevada, sharing space with a couple of fine horses, a flock of egg-producing chickens, and some breeding rabbits. You’re always welcome to visit. I need help cleaning those corrals.

When they kill a rancher and abduct his daughter the pursuit becomes relentless and no false trails, hideouts, or fast guns are enough to protect them. Page-turning action, excellent story telling, plenty of twists and turns and well worth the time.

Six decades ago when I was a kid was the heyday of the TV western. Gunsmoke, Zane Grey Theater, Tales of Wells Fargo, Have Fun Will Travel, Maverick and so many others graced our flickering black and white television sets. Mom, dad, and the kids could squeeze together in the sofa and not be afraid of foul language or loose women becoming too loose on screen. Even the toughest cowboy has a soft moment and a sense of honor. This novel and all the Terence Corcoran novels have more than a smidgen of that for us old timers. Of course these stories are a bit more accurate in terms of location, weather, and food. Corcoran likes his coffee black with a warm up of whiskey on those cold mountain nights, equally cold Virginia City winter nights, and maybe just to improve the taste of cowboy coffee. He will bring in an outlaw alive if he can (preferably to see them hang) or bring them back dead (with pleasure) if they abused women and children. Born on a boat a day out of Ireland like many a cowboy and outlaw he headed to the west for life, love, and adventure. Terror on Flat Top Range finds Terrence trailing after psychopathic bank robbers, murderers, and rapists to save a sixteen year old girl who has enough courage to try and seek her own revenge. So put down your remote and return with us to those thrilling days of yesteryear.

And his gang. They killed her father and hurt her brother very badly. This outlaw and his gang were murders and bank robbers. They robbed a bank and Terrence Corcoran rescued the girl and rounded up some men who wanted to catch this outlaw. After some wild rides and tracking, they found Humboldt Charley, he was killed, the gang was caught and the gold that was taken was recovered and returned. Anyone who likes a good western, would enjoy this book.
