April 2020 and everyone suddenly needs masks. And I remember I have a sewing machine sitting there. Re-taught myself how to thread it and use it and wound up spending the next year sewing about a thousand masks.
Every now and then it would frustrate me trying to get through thicker layers, but really? I can't say anything bad about the machine. It kept right on going and I actually found it pretty relaxing.
I will say DO NOT USE CHEAP THREAD. My machine hates the cheap thread. The better thread makes nice, consistent stitches. Cheap thread is all over the place no matter what tension settings I use.
Overall, it more than paid for itself all those years ago and it felt pretty good to be doing something to help out.
