Product Description

Wasteland 2 is a strategy role playing game that immerses the player in tactical turn-based combat, rpg-style character advancement and customization, and deep choices that affect the narrative and memorable cast of characters. Wasteland 2 is the direct sequel to 1988's Wasteland, the first-ever post-apocalyptic computer RPG and the inspiration behind the Fallout series. Until Wasteland, no other crpg had ever allowed players to control and command individual party members for tactical purposes or given them the chance to make moral choices that would directly affect the world around them. Wasteland was a pioneer in multi-path problem solving, dripping in choice and consequence and eschewing the typical one-key-per-lock puzzle solving methods of its peers, in favor of putting the power into players' Hands to advance based on their own particular play style.

The framerate is a bit low sometimes on the switch and the texture quality isn't that great, compared to games like zelda on the switch this feels very poorly optimized. But since it's a strategy RPG with turn based combat the performance isn't really an issue. The game works well handheld and I actually like the controls on the switch better than on the PC.

If you like old school rpgs like fallout you should get this.

It's an old fashioned game and not for everyone. I loved that each character is unique enough in their start but if you really want you can tailor them to your own desires.

You will want to save and load A LOT in this game but I've really enjoyed my time with it.

The variety of ways to accomplish objectives in this game is great, and every skill feels useful in it's own way.

This is not a casual game though. Expect to learn the ropes, and it's a meaty game, I've played about 20 hours and still feel like I've barely scratched the surface.

Camera can sometimes be a bit wonky but you get used to it.

I really enjoy the printer box on the bottom right that describes your surroundings when you're walking about, it really helps sell the setting.

Theres also a staggering amount of voice acting in this game, ranging from great to just okay. I cant say theres any TERRIBLE voice acting but there are definitely some characters you'll never remember, or they don't sell their dialogue well enough.

Again, this game is built on old fashioned principles, it's a slow burn. Think of games like XCOM. The satisfaction in this game comes from preparing your characters for missions and growing them into awesome parts of a greater team.

If you like deep strategy/tactic rpgs give this a try, but if you've little patience I wouldn't recommend.

This is an RPG for the fans of old school RPGs. The ones that used a modified GURPS or similar to make an awesomely involved and immersive game. Now that the graphics have caught up with the mechanics, we can now see what we used to imagine in our mind's eye.

I MAY be a little biased, since I backed the Kickstarter PC version of this game, but being able to take it with you on the Switch is wonderful.

Be warned though, it doesn't hold your hand, but it doesn't punish you (much) for mistakes. The game is immersive, fun, and deep. Something I've personally been waiting for since playing the original Wasteland on my Commodore 64.

Base Cochise, out.

I haven't gotten to 1 hour playtime and the game has crashed to the Switch home screen twice! Once I was just digging for loot, the other in a real battle. The second time the screen went all multi-colored. If you like these types of games stay on PC, or at least wait for a Fallout 1&2 release on Switch. It may not happen, but this game is very poorly optimized to play for long durations. I would take Fallout:Tactics over this crap!
