Pokémon become huge with Dynamax & Gigantamax
Dynamaxing!
Dynamax is a phenomenon unique to specific locations in the Galar region, where Pokémon are able to take on gigantic appearances. Dynamax Pokémon become tremendously strong and their stats get a boost but they will return to normal after three turns.
Gigantamaxing!
Only certain species of Pokémon can Gigantamax—and even among such species, only rare specimens will be able to. Gigantamax Pokémon become bigger and it boosts the power of the Pokémon. It also allows each Gigantamax Pokémon to use a unique move known as a G-Max Move!

The games are colorful and engaging for a kid, and pleasant enough to make playing and helping out fun for Dad, too. They're not technical masterpieces, and the story is very childish for an adult, but the gameplay with catching Pokémon and building teams is fun. The difficulty level is too easy for me, but it's just right for a kid. At age 5 my son does need help with it, though I appreciate that he's able to go off and do plenty of things without me constantly intervening, since you can always go back and heal your Pokémon for free and the death penalty isn't that harsh.
We're each playing a different version, and we are making different teams and seeing all the differences each of us faces. In this way, the game has me feeling a bit ripped off. The two games are barely different enough to warrant selling the two versions in the first place. Even the things that are supposed to be different aren't really. For example, in the 4th gym challenge you face a different leader in each version. But the challenge itself is 100% identical. You just fight a different set of Pokémon. We can't even notice whichever Pokémon are supposed to be unique to each version without looking it up, as 99% of the ones you encounter in the normal course of play are the same. I knew going into it that it wouldn't be the greatest value, but it's actually even worse than I thought. I suppose this is what Nintendo does instead of microtransactions. Compare this to Luigi's Mansion 3 where my son and I could both have a save file on the same account with one copy of the game. In this game you either need two games or two accounts.
Still, I'll give the game 5 stars from the perspective of how my son feels about it and how it's made him want to learn to understand complex game menus and things like that. I just have to recommend for gamers on a budget to only get one or the other version.
I’m sad my daughter let the internet hater mob of entitled crybabies get to her and color her enjoyment of the game. She doesn’t even want to play it even though she enjoyed Let’s Go. This game is stand-alone: it doesn’t need one million old pre-leveled monsters. We get our baby Pikachu or Eevee from Let’s Go and that’s the important part.
The only real issue is that you can’t pet your adorable Pokemon! That was a great feature in Let’s Go which added so much enjoyment.
PS Amazon when many reviews lead with a hashtag from an organized gamer-gate style mob you know it’s being review bombed!
The Pokedex is smaller ( Yes it is! However there is still a good selection of Pokemon to use! The Director even mentioned this so I wonder why this comes as a suprize to everyone??) Its nice to not see so many of the older and overused Pokemon- yes some of my favorites were cut as well but its not that bad. The games do support local LAN play between to Switch consoles for Trading or Battle (not raids). However raids can be completed solo (granted if your lvls meet the requirements) The wild area is a huge area with different weather changing the types of Pokemon that appear. If you link your game online (Nintendo Membership Required) you basically can see other players online and collect items from other players just by talking to them, do vs matches, raids, or trading. I seen a few re-views that say a lot of attacks have been deleted?? (That is not the case- only hidden power has been removed) older attacks have been split into TR's which is a one time use and TM's which are multiple uses. (Pokedex INFO! more reviews are saying pokemon such as Bulbasaur and Squirtle are not in the games..... YES THEY ARE! the games have been data mined and exist! Mew is Obtainable early on if you have the PokeBall controller and Never used the Mew that came with it! Mew just does not have a Pokedex entry. With that said the story is about as long as a normal Pokemons game story would be... however if you take your time doing Poke Jobs, Leveling, catching and exploring the wild area it does feel a lot better than just rushing the game.... BTW yes this game does restrict you as to what lvl Pokemon you can catch based on gym badges you have. This prevents you from just luck catching a super high lvl Pokemon and just clearing everything so fast. Color sensitive people there is no option to change menu colors, just change your tv to black and white if this is an issue. Graphics of the are definitely cleaner than the Pokemon Lets GO games, I feel like more time could have been used to animate attacks better but thats only my small complaint and opinion. The music is ok not the best nor the worst ( I always will like GEN 1 & GEN 2 the best) Pokemon GYM battles are the best in these games and how they should be with fans cheering in the background and also making comments when you win your battles, it made me feel more in-grossed in the games. The difficulty of the games I would rate just slightly a tad notch above easy and only because I didn't look up the new Poke's typing.. the land mass is a lot bigger and I enjoyed the exploring. Menus were real easy to use and didn't feel clunky or to complicated. (If you ordered the double pack from Amazon they will send you an email code for your IN-Game Clothing Items which is basically a Gold-Backpack or Trunk. You must be a little ways through the game and have Mystery Gift unlocked and use the option for online code. That being said this game is not bad in the least, there is some things can be improved on but do not let the negative reviews get to you.

I played the game for 17 hours straight and cannot stop; I haven't finished the game because there are so many playable elements that I fall in love with.
Comparing to old pokemon games:
1) I can see my friends walking around in the wild area and I camp with them. We can see each other's pokemon, so I started to spend more time catching rare pokemon so that I can show off.
2) I needed more money to buy pretty clothes, do makeup and change hairstyles so that I can amaze my friends; I start to battle NPCs to make money. To win the battle faster and make money faster, I needed to build a better pokemon team and build a better move combination.
3) I fight Dynamax monster with friends in the wild areas. To show off my pokemon skills, I spend more time to figure out the best move combinations for new pokemon at each stage of the game. Yes, I like showing off ;) and my friends too.
4) I am more addicted to berries because I want to make different curries.
5) Beating the gym is not just walking around and battling with annoying NPCs. There are more interactive puzzles to solve and "I NEED THEIR MONEY TO BUY MORE CLOTHES!". Gym battles are excited, there are audiences cheering for you.
6) A better soundtrack, it makes gameplay much more immersive and excited.
7) Great and beautiful old pokemon game core is kept: Collect, trade and battle. And new features serve for these game core well.
8) You can see pokemon walk around. Unlike old pokemon games, now I can avoid unnecessary battles. Most importantly, pokemons are so cute when they wander around!
9) The most amazing thing for pokemon games since the old series; I call it "pokemon culture": it brings your friends together and you guys will discuss your discoveries like scientists.
However, there are disadvantages:
1) I played a physical copy and turned off the auto-save feature as others suggest. The sd card issue did not happen to me. If the sd card issue is related to the game, this is BAAAD.
2) In the wild zone, other players are lagging(not sync). It's 2019, really, this should not be an issue.
3) Hmmm... What happened to Gorythmic???
4) Even though my fav pokemon is not gone, I feel sorry for those whose fav got cut.
5) Where is pokemon bank? :(
I am glad that gamefreak made changes to improve the gameplay. Good work!

I need to share my experience of feeling being tricked by Amazon SG into pre-ordering this double pack. The reason being when this double pack initially listed on Amazon SG, it included a image that clearly shows an in-game item Gold Studded Leather Case. I was under the impression that I would get that item by pre-ordering from Amazon SG.
However, when I asked customer service 12hrs after I received the double pack, all I received was "It's for illustration purpose". The image had since been removed. Heck, why not you don't include the image in the first place? I could have pre-ordered from somewhere else and receive whatever pre-order bonus they offer. Instead, I pre-ordered from Amazon SG with no pre-order bonus at all.
