I didn't gain any new channels - I just got a better signal from each one
With no more than maybe 60 seconds of work to install it by adding it inline with a small pigtail of cable, this does exactly what's needed to clear up interference from nearby 4G cell signals. As you can tell from the photo showing the view off my balcony, I'm probably 500-600 feet away from a heavily used tower. There's no way for me to mount any type of antenna on a mast or otherwise to get away from the cell noise this monster generates. The TV I used to test the filter with before permanently putting it to use provided me with some signal quality numbers to judge its effectiveness. The numbers were displayed as percentages from 0 to 100, in 15% increments. Every channel I tested increased in signal strength by at least 15%, and usually by 30%, with no amplification applied. That was more than enough to steady the signal to get a consistant lock on every channel of the stations normally in range. I didn't gain any new channels - I just got a better signal from each one.A few things that are included with the box and it's instruction that some people might find helpful...The frequency range is larger than the only other (IMO, overpriced) LTE filter available from Amazon and many other retailers. Channel Masters' version covers 5-699 MHz, while this one essentially covers 5-790 MHz. If you need to receive channels 52 to 66 (699 to 790 MHz), you'll need this filter. Neither brand filter will pass channels 67 or higher but it's unlikely there are any of these stations still on on-air.There is a small signal loss to use any filter (4db for this one), but the amount of LTE noise rejection is huge - at greater than 30db in this case. The filter will pass DC current to allow you to apply power to an amplifier, but it's restricted to 12-24V D.C. and 300 milliamps max, so if you do need to use one that's a different voltage (they're usually 5 volts for the USB-type cables), make sure the power adapter is inserted before the input to the filter. If not, it simply won't work at all, and you'll get zero signal. I have 2 different 5 volt types and that's the only way either would work. This also filters FM radio, Police/Fire/Emergency/Government frequencies that are within the same VHF/UHF frequencies used for various TV bands, but you might need a dedicated filter for FM or other signal types if your primary intent is to clean up your TV signal. 4db added to whatever line and coupler signal loss for splitters and adapters you'll need might be too much to justify using one filter for multiple devices. At $7 a pop, buy 2 or 3 - or more - and use one per device.Keep in mind that this is shipped from the UK - but - it's well worth the wait if you need one, and aren't really willing to pay over 3 times its price for the other brand. Mine arrived 8 days after ordering, which is actually pretty quick for Royal Mail.

After doing a lot of research and asking questions and getting the opinions of other customers,I decided to invest the money and get this filter. O.K. It arrived today from England in a timely manner/ 06/29/2019. It is hooked up and it does clear the picture up better than it was. So I can't complain too much. It's very easy to install but you do have to make a small pig tail to get it working. I gave this four stars because it does somewhat clear the picture up,I'll use this for several more days and give it another review at that time,be that as it may I'm satisfied by the product, thanks for giving me a good product./ After a lot of extreme decision I've dropped one star from my initial review this has nothing to do with the quality of this product but I've got to tell people this does somewhat work, if you live in a metropolitan area, where there are no obstructions blocking you it very might be worth your time and money. But as it stands now I live in a rural area where there are a lot of trees and an abundance of cell phone towers, which tend to interfere with the T.V. signals that the stations are generating, this is supposed to block most of this well in all honesty it does not! The cell phone towers are generating a lot more power in my area than what is normal,so hence the pix elation forming on your T.V. set. I don't care how many LTE Filters you install trying to improve your reception your not going to get it, unless you live directly in-front of the tower you receive the T.V. signals from, now in my situation I asked around and did some more research and found that the compass heading in my area was around 120 degrees magnetic so I turned my OTA antenna to that heading and re-scanned my T.V. Good news I'm now picking up twenty-five stations in my area, and some of the pix-elation has stopped so as far as I'm concerned this filter is finally doing what it is supposed to do.so in the long run it might be worth your while to try this, because I've tried just about everything,so take it from someone who's been there and done that!

In the US, the UHF TV band was originally channels 14-83 (470MHz-890MHz). In the 1980s, Channels 70-83 (806-890MHz) were reallocated for cell phone usage. With the DTV transition in 2009, Channels 52-69 (698-806MHz) were also reallocated for cell usage. We are in the midst of the "spectrum repack" ending in 2020 that will also allocate channels 37-51 (608-698MHz) for cell phones.

That is to say, most existing TV antennas and amplifiers are designed to receive and pass frequencies that are now used for cell phones. In close proximity to a cell tower, your preamplifier, distribution amp or even the TV tuner itself can overload causing picture dropouts and erratic signal strength readings.

An LTE filter such as this one will significantly reduce the strength those out-of-band cell signals, which should knock the signal down enough as to not drive your amplifier(s) or TV into overload. This goes without saying, but you absolutely MUST put the filter between the antenna and the preamplifier in order to prevent it from overloading (not after the amplifier).

I've tested these filters with my spectrum analyzer - I don't have exact attenuation measurements, but I can tell you they really cut cell signal levels down. Another user review here claimed about -20dB. They're well-built and are a pretty decent value for the money (especially considering the price of competing models). I have a side business installing antennas and I've started using these on every job, even if there aren't signs of LTE overload (not something I want to get service calls about in the future).

Speaking of interference - LTE is not the only thing that commonly interferes with television. Overload from local FM radio is arguably an even bigger problem! The FM band (88-108MHz) is right above VHF-Lo Ch. 2-6 (54-88MHz) and exactly 1/2 the frequency of VHF-Hi Ch. 7-13 (174-216MHz). Strong FMs can overload amplifiers causing 2nd harmonics which can cause breakups and such on Ch. 7-13. Good preamplifiers have a switchable FM trap (notch filter) to reduce FM levels. You can also use a standalone FM trap or plug the antenna into the Hi side of an HLSJ VHF-Lo/VHF-Hi & UHF signal joiner.
