I bought a new camper and planned on buying a small television to install in it. I found that I could buy a larger set cheaper than a small one.
I replaced a an older set in a bedroom and moved it to my camper I personally don’t like the extreme high definition units. I have a curved súper definition tv in a vacation home and it makes everything appear like a Telemundo novella in my opinion. When the definition of the tv is so great that watching “The Boys “ made Elizabeth Shue look her age I was dissatisfied. Ultra high definition is not a friend for the actors my age.
Movies and tv series need to have a bit of fantasy. They pay makeup artists for a reason.
I really like the remote. I am a prime subscriber, I’ve had a Netflix account since back when they mailed DVD’s, I’ve got Hulu, and Disney+. The remote has built in quick navigation buttons for all four.
I work in a highly technical field so in my search I was checking refresh rayes and a bunch of specs that many consumers don’t have a clue about. This unit has exceeded my expectations. **** I’m not a sports watching guy **** My colleagues had been advising me about what to look at for live sports. That doesn’t matter to me. When it comes to sports I’m a participant; not a spectator. Therefore, I can’t speak to that.
Unboxing and setup were pretty simple. Read the instructions and don’t throw things out because they’re packed efficiently.
I had a choice when ordering of waiting a few days or pickup at my nearest Beat Buy. (80 mile round trip for me) I wanted it right away so I chose to pick it up; plus there’s a Red Robin a few hundred yards from the Best Buy. (It was closed due to lack of help from the pandemic, but I got my TV. and not my onion ring!
I’ve done a few tweaks to picture and sound settings today. Not that they needed it , but as a tech guy I want to play with the settings. It’s smart, but not so smart that the average consumer is paying for stuff they’ll never use. I don’t have a sound bar hooked up. I don’t need it. I’m not a gamer so features that support that aren’t in my wheelhouse.
What I have is great picture., super out of the box sound, and an acceptable price. No buyer’s remorse If you need the latest and greatest tech this isn’t your set. If you want really good picture and sound with an easily navigable remote. A sleep timer that works great all at a reasonable price then click buy now.
However, if you’ve looked at a pile of sets and have it shipped to Best Buy; I suggest doing a screenshot on tour order. The Amazon system doesn’t marry seamlessly with the Best Buy system so if you’re ordering during heavy order periods you’ll need tour info from Amazon to make finding your order in their stack of hundreds they pulled fo smoother. The Best Buy order and Amazon order numbers aren’t the same. In my case I didn’t remember exactly what I purchased and trying to look it up while the free wifi and multiple network providers just slowed the order lookup process.
The TV was packaged very well and I was surprised how light it was, just moving the box down to the home gym I've been piecing together. Getting it setup on the stand was downright simple, and after a couple of software updates I was ready to rock. The picture quality was as good as I expected for the price, possibly a bit better. The on-screen menus were easy to use, the remote works well, and the total startup time for the TV is just a few seconds from sleep mode.
I was especially impressed by the built-in FireTV. Full disclosure: I've worked for Amazon for about a decade now and I've been a bit fanatical about the FireTV products since they were first announced, and the built-in FireTV experience feels a lot better and responsive than any of the dedicated FireTV products I've used so far. It's fast, responsive, and integrates TV/channel functionality right into the menus.
The sound quality of the TV is also a little better than I expected for the price. I can hear it loud and clear while on the elliptical. It's not going to blow your mind like, say, an IMAX experience, but it will probably surprise you how much sound you get out of a relatively cheap TV. The built-in sound may actually sound slightly better than my LG OLED (if I bypass the sound system and actually use the built-in speakers like some sort of ... barbarian).
I was skeptical, but no longer. I'm considering replacing my ollllld 32" in my bedroom with a newer model in the near future and might look to one of these again!
