What is the difference between the RMCE-BT1 and the RMCE-BT2?
Both the RMCE-BT1 and RMCE-BT2 will enable wireless Bluetooth connectivity for Shure detachable Earphones. The new RMCE-BT2 is improved upon in several ways. It is compatible with more codecs, has Bluetooth 5.0 vs Bluetooth 4.1, and has a dedicated, premium headphone amplifier. Lower latency is possible on the RMCE-BT2 when paired with a device that is compatible with AptX Low latency. Enhanced audio quality is possible in the RMCE-BT2 vs the RMCE-BT1 because of the codec support and the inclusion of a dedicated, premium headphone amplifier. Additionally, battery run time of the RMCE-BT2 is up to 10 hours, while the RMCE-BT1 run time is up to 8 hours. The range for both is the same (up to 10 meters).

I was pretty hesitant to try Bluetooth again but decided to give the BT2 a shot after reading some positive reviews. In short, I'm very glad I did. Shure fixed virtually all the issues I had with the BT1. The BT2 has great quality, great battery life (I average ~10-12 hrs use between charges), almost no connection dropouts, and - thanks to the pendant/clip design - is very comfortable to wear. I've been using it almost every day with my SE846 monitors and have had almost no issues at all. It's still Bluetooth, obviously, and you can definitely hear that - but it's much, much easier to forget that you're connected wirelessly. The biggest improvement (for me at least) is that the noise floor is much lower - almost unnoticeable unless you're in a very quiet environment. In fact, I often have to check to see whether the status light is blinking in order to see if they're powered on or not (something I never had to do with the BT1 - you could hear the hissing).
They're not perfect. In particular, the microphone seems to be pretty poor. I haven't had good success using the headset for calls, but that's also not what I bought this for. Also it's pretty pricey at the moment. But overall, strong recommend if you're looking at a wireless solution for your Shure monitors - you can't get much better than this.
Edit: forgot to mention one of my favorite features! These can be paired with multiple sources simultaneously and the device will reconnect automatically when those devices are within range. Super convenient to be connected, e.g., to my phone and laptop at the same time and not have to switch sources constantly.
Now before people get their panties into a bunch let me explain my reasoning. I have been a Shure owner for over a decade. My Trusty SE535's were lost when I left them on an airplane seat pocket as I rushed to get off the flight to catch a connecting one. I almost cried when I realized what I had done.
Took me a while but I finally decided to pull the trigger and get the 846's. Wow, I am in love again. I didn't think the difference would be so great but compared to my old 535's these puppies are just next level. Now what the heck does that have to do with this BT adapter? Patience Grasshopper, we will get there shortly.
The one big issue I have always had was the darn cable. I had to carry a set of beats wireless just to stop the darn cord from getting in my way. Also, not most mobile phones are going to Type C usb port so that means an additional adater to lug around, ughhh.
Then the RCME-BT2 enter my life! Glory be.
Now, let's address some concerns, is the sound as good as it is with the cord, no. But is it incredible better, um... NO. I have this paired to my Note 2 in Apt-X and the sound is great, volume could be a tad louder, but this is an old mans ears it is trying to cope with so your mileage may vary.
The battery life seems to be decent enough, should last me for a puddle jump from Detroit to London (my most regular route). The battery itself is on the larger side and I thought I'd have an issue with it, but nope. I normally wear it behind my neck and so far no issues.
Mic quality, no issues either for now. I had a full conversation with some of my colleagues as I was changing flights and while yes they did hear a lot of ambient noise, they all claimed that my own voice was coming in loud and clear. I am interesting in knowing how it works in a less noisy environment, but that aslone doesnt do much for me as this will be used about 75% for music/movie consumption only.
So as far as I am concerned this device is a hit. Now that may change with use. Interested to see how it holds up to my travel regimen, but overall I would definitely recommend this. Remember, it is not permanent and switching to the cable takes all of 2 mins.

I believe this adapter is specifically made and tuned for Shure IEMs, unfortunately I don't own any of those.
So, I paired up mine with Logitech UE900 as well as FiiO FA9.
Turns out for both of the IEMs it sounds just a tad thin, UE900 doesn't have any built-in adjustments and it's pretty much outta luck. FA9 on the other hand has 3 individual tuning switches, so I can adjust the sound to almost perfection.
The ShurePlus Play app doesn't support this adapter at this point, so the only way to tune the sound is either put in a global equalizer setting on your device or use an adjustable IEM.
One problem I do notice is, at least for Samsung devices, I don't get AptX HD on Android while streaming.
Under developer options, Bluetooth codec is showing AptX and although HD sound is enabled, the bit rate is only 16bit/44.1khz. This might because I'm using Samsung note 10+ and as far as I know Samsung prefers its own codec.
Lastly, this is just me being picky: the two cable ends are not the same length, remote side is just slightly longer.

Initial impressions very good indeed, Ill start with the downside. With my Westone UM30's there isn't really a proper seal between the earphone shell and the cable, so where the rubber would normally form a seal with the housing and prevent water ingress, dust ingress etc this isn't the case. Without that seal the cable is able to freely rotate which may irritate some. Doesn't bother me once fitted in my ears. Might be able to add a small rubber washer in there to make up for that. That said, I doubt that will be an issue for Shure IEMs. I can live with that as a Westone owner.
Attenuation - there isn't any, cables seem great.
Very high-level sound signature change opinions and sound quality - Quality of the DAC is very very good, I am seriously impressed and did not expect this level of detail from BT5. I doubt anyone that bought these would be left wanting in that area, in fact I can hear stuff in mp3 files I couldn't before. Sound stage does seem narrower than before but got used to that quickly.
Definitely more emphasis on the lows, bass on my UM30's is now even more punchy and hard hitting but still never muddy or boomy which is good news, without a decent DAC the UM30 can feel a little flat. Mids have been brought forward slightly, highs I cant work out if I'm honest, I'd say slightly more laid back than my iBasso DC02 which was very forward. Something to note, I do think I suffer from tinnitus, so highs from many DACs especially my DC02 could get uncomfortable at higher volumes in no time at all, that's no longer a problem with the Shure BT-2, its a breath of fresh air actually. When sat on London tube at high volume my UM30's are more than capable of blocking out 99% of external noise (even on a noisy tube line with ear piercing screeches), where my DC02 which were uncomfortable at higher volumes ment I had to drop the sound level down let a lot of noise in to the point I couldn't enjoy music. The DAC in this cable allows me to turn up the volume without being uncomfy.
No comments on battery, I do 4-5 Hrs a day listening, more than enough for me.
Some comments on range I noticed from others - no issues for me, my phones in my hand or pocket always. I did walk 10 feet cross the room and music was still playing no issues.
