6 heatpipe dual radiator design

Providing more surface area, better heat-distribution and superior airflow efficiency than conventional tower style heatsinks, the NH-D14's six heatpipe dual radiator design was developed to provide ultimate quiet cooling performance in dual fan mode.

Excellent component cooling

Hanging out at the bottom of the fin-stacks, the NF-P14 fan doesn't only contribute to the NH-D14's superb CPU cooling capabilities but also provides massive airflow over surrounding motherboard components and heatsinks, thus ensuring excellent component cooling performance.

Asymmetrical design for high compatibility

An asymmetrical design that gives more clearance towards the RAM slots ensures good compatibility despite of the cooler's size. The NF-P12 fan can be moved upwards or left off in order to further improve compatibility.

SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system

Noctua's SecuFirm2 mounting systems have become synonymous with quality, safety and ease of use. Supporting Intel LGA20xx (LGA2066, LGA2011-0 & LGA2011-3 Square ILM), LGA1200, LGA115x (LGA1150, LGA1151, LGA1155, LGA1156) & AMD AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, AM4, FM1, FM2, FM2+, the SecuFirm2 mounting included with the NH-D14 ensures perfect contact pressure and maximum convenience on all current sockets.

Cut my max load temperatures down by 30C vs stock 4790k!!!

Cut my max load temperatures down by 30C vs stock 4790k!!!
I bought this to replace the stock fan on my 4790k. I was having some semi-severe temperature issues when using TurboBoost (up to 4.4 ghz) and fully loading the processor to near 100% at 1.260V. I was reaching temperatures as high as 95C, to which I immediately ended the load to avoid severe damage. Needless to say, the stock cooler is NOT a practical solution for running clocks & voltages this high. I turned off TurboBoost in the BIOS, which caps the processor to 4.0 standard clock speeds, but also lowers the max voltage to about 1.15. This voltage decrease keeps the temperatures lower - But why have an unlocked powerhouse processor that I have to baby with the stock cooler?Enter the NH-D14. Installation wasn't 'easy', but it wasn't hard either. The instructions come in separate books for AMD/Intel. Per the instructions, I removed my motherboard, installed the backplate (fairly simple), and installed the new cooler mounting brackets on the opposite side. It does give you layouts for the final product in the instructions. I chose to have mine intake on the side closest to the drive bays, and exhaust on the opposite side, facing the rear case fan (both fans are moving air in the same direction, on opposite sides of the sinks). I believe this is going to be the most efficient way to install in 90% of applications. The absolute most difficult portion of installing this sink is finding the space for it. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COOLER IF YOU'RE RUNNING ANYTHING SMALLER THAN ATX MOTHERBOARD, AND MID-ATX CASE. I am running a standard mid size atx, and standard atx board. I had enough room to get everything installed, but the high heat sinks on my Corsair Vengeance RAM posed an issue and I will be replacing the memory rather than voiding my warranty by removing the sinks. One last point of advice is do not try to install the cooler whilst your board is outside your case. I didn't try this, but I seriously doubt it will work. While it's harder to fit your hands into the nooks and crannies in the case, it will be best. The fans are both removable, and are adjustable vertically due to the neat brackets. You can even flip them rather than the sink, if you desire a different airflow configuration. If for whatever reason you prefer to have just one fan (or can only fit one) you can easily remove one and use it as a 140MM case fan. You may also remove and use your own fans if you don't like the look of these, but I'd imagine these are going to be quieter than most fans you'd get, and you may have a hard time with the bracket system. On to the fun stuff: My temperatures were DRASTICALLY improved. My idle temps pre install were 35C or so (with turbo boost & speedstep ON). Post install, my idle temps were often down as low as 22C (below my room temperature), but varied between 22-26C. Under load, with stock cooler and the above settings still on, as mentioned, I was seeing temperatures as high as 95C. With the new cooler installed, I'm able to sustain 4.4 GHZ @ 100% load for forever and the temps never go over 70, and typically sit between 60-65C. All of this testing was done in a home with an ambient temperature of 22.2C (72F). See pictures for my proof! This is not a paid review (see verified), but is an honest opinion on this product. I can't imagine there is anything better. I just wanted to inform everyone about how amazing this cooler is.If this review was helpful to you, please hit 'yes' below!
