Yet another distraction free option is the ability to navigate, play Spotify, interface with Alexa at home via a simply wave of your hand in front of the phone speaker. I assume this physical wave of your hand in front of the phone speaker will waylay any fears of the phone constantly eavesdropping on your voice waiting for a prompt. In ZeroTouch unlike the Amazon Echo the start of the interface is commenced via a wave in front of the phone speaker, this is not unlike the voice activation button behind the steering wheel for infotainment systems voice activation in most cars for the last seven years.
The whole setup process is relatively straightforward (1) simply attach the neat magnetic holder to the air vent grill (2) then install the ZeroTouch app from the Play Store on your Android device. (3) The app is auto activated via the Bluetooth chip within the phone holder now attached to the grill (4) The phone is held in place via one of the two magnetic plates provided. (5) You can opt to stick the metal plate on the inside of the protective case of your phone. (6) Once you have successfully paired your phone to the mount you can start customizing the options via the ZeroTouch app. These range from: WhatsApp, Outlook, Gmail, Facebook Messenger, Spotify and Play Music which have all to be set up in the ZeroTouch App (7) You can also change the playback digitized voice's accent and speed it up based on your preferences.
So far, the solution has worked quiet well for receiving and sending text messages, emails, calls and music. Perhaps the ability to tap the large YES NO command visible on the phone screen may be an advantage as I receive many emails as I drive. The Navigation element could also do with a a single tap on a YES or NO button or a YES NO Voice command to confirm that the voice interface has actually found the correct destination based on what you called out. OTHER THAN THESE FEW MINOR ENHANCEMENTS THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT WELL DONE
Scenario:
Samsung Galaxy Note 5 with Otterbox Defender case
2011 Subaru Forester XT
Mount placed on driver's side center vent right under the stereo.
I have been a mechanical engineer for 35 years. With extremely limited insight on how this attached to the mount (I first saw it on the Logitech site and it links to Amazon), I wondered how this would mount to the base. It arrived yesterday and boy was I in for a surprise. Oh, here's this thin little glue tape strip on a metal strip to use if you wirelessly charge your phone. You also have to put it at the very bottom of the back. Now as a mechanical engineer, immediately saw a real possible issue with this. The definition of one of the simplest mechanical machines is a lever. "In order to reduce the force needed, the distance over which the force is applied must be increased." So now you have the phone attached by a magnetic force at it's lowest point in the back, thereby making the rest of the phone able to jar and break the force of the magnet. Nothing like commuting 20 miles and wondering more about your phone separating from it's mount than the volumes of traffic and constant traffic lights. It separated from the mount 3 times on the way in, and once on the way home. Luckily it fell into the console and not on the passenger side floor. I had had enough on the 4th fall, the one on the way home. How many times did it move and I stopped it from separating? I lost count. It would be easier to have had a suction cup windshield mount like my Garmin GPS.
Some other issues-
1) Seems to conflict with the vehicle bluetooth, something that this should not circumvent as the vehicle bluetooth is easily louder through the car speakers and better at easily better picking up vocals as opposed to a phone hanging by a magnet and far enough away from your ears and mouth with road noise to affect both.
2) when installing, I did the wave to wake it, etc, but on the road, when trying to initiate a text, forget it. Maybe my Waze being constantly on had some conflict, but still...
3) There were only two choices for music. No way to add other services, nor instructions to play other services already installed on my phone.
4) I received a text which it read, but being that it was going through the phone and not the vehicle bluetooth, the sound was bad, as words were not distinguishable. It asked if I wanted to reply. How could I go wrong at least saying hello? It did not capture the dictation, issue the text.
5) It blocks off a vent completely (air conditioning on an 80 degree day anyone?)
6) As I went to grab is as the top bobbled around with each startup at a light, rounding a turn, numerous times it hit the knob and turned off the radio
Who road tested this? F- grade. $60 dollars? $60 gets me more than a nicely made magnetic pad (The quality of the non-marring finish and it's grip of the vent are exceptional), an app (what do apps usually run on Google Player? A few dollars?), and a slick packaging box. It gets me stability and an app that ties in to the vehicle and seamlessly works. This is not that product.
