slender and strong, but high price should include more RAM and accessories -- No Instructions!
    * Slender, lightweight, strong. This is an attractive tablet. Slim and lightweight, making it good for travel. Despite its thin metal and low weight, the metal feels strong. A strong backing for the screen is important, because plastic laptops bend with use (even if only slightly), adding wear and tear to the screen, thus reducing screen life. A "hard screen" (as with metal backing) extends screen life.* Sharp, bright, glossy (not matte) screen. The screen is sharp and bright. It's also glossy, as opposed to matte. Glossy screens make colors more vibrant. However, I prefer matte screens, because they're easier on the eyes, especially after extended use. Yet I recognize that glossy screens are more popular. So much so that it's hard to find matte screens. They're mainly found on higher end, more expensive, laptops. I'm not sure if there are any tablets with matte screens.* Low on RAM.My MateBook came with only 4 GB of RAM. Is that enough? My old Lenovo laptop had trouble with 8 GB RAM, especially with Google Street View. If I'd click down too many streets, my screen would freeze. So I upgraded to a Toshiba Tecra with 32 GB RAM. No screen slowdowns since then.Of course, several factors contribute to slowing a computer (be it tablet or laptop). Low RAM is a big one. Always get as much RAM as you can afford. My MateBook (for review) came with 4 GB RAM, but there's an 8 GB version. If your heart is set on this MateBook, buy the full 8 GB.I wonder if I can upgrade my current MateBook to 8 GB (by buying additional RAM), and how much it would cost? I couldn't find the answer in the included instructions.Another factor contributing to a computer's speed is the nature of the memory storage. My old Lenovo had a Hard Disc Drive (HDD) -- platters spinning at 7200 rpm. My new Tecra has a Solid State Drive (SSD), which are faster than spinning platters. This MateBook also has an SSD, which helps make it faster.* Good Sound. The sound on this MateBook is better -- louder and deeper base -- than on my $2,500 Tecra. Sound is one of my Tecra's weakest points. The Tecra's volume doesn't go high enough, or deep enough.* Requires WiFi.This MateBook tablet has no Ethernet slot. (Not entirely surprising, it being so thin.) It can only access the internet through WiFi. But I don't have WiFi. I avoid WiFi due to security concerns. I prefer a hard Ethernet connection. I only use WiFi in hotels, when I travel -- and even then, only on my old laptop, stripped of many programs and files, to lower the risk from hackers. Thus, to set up this MateBook, and its Windows 10, I had to go to a Starbucks for a WiFi connection. The set up was fast and easy.Actually, you CAN use this MateBook with an Ethernet connection -- but then you must buy an accessory -- the MateDock. Which brings us to...* Accessories not included.Too many accessories are not included. The keyboard for one. If I'm to use this MateBook as a laptop replacement for travel, I'll need a keyboard. Likewise, the MateDock (with the Ethernet connection) is not included. With all the accessories, and the full 8 GB RAM, it gets to be expensive.Altogether, the MateBook is very attractive and strong, but it seems over-priced considering the low RAM and all the accessories one must buy. Consider it, but shop around first.I've included some photos of the MateBook (without optional keyboard) alongside my Toshiba Tecra. The Tecra is more powerful, but also more expensive, and much larger.================UPDATE: As I try to use this, I'm becoming increasingly frustrated due to the lack of instructions. No user manual. Just a few flimsy pages. So far, I've not been able to figure out how to set the screen in landscape mode. I must watch movies in portrait mode, which shrinks down "widescreen" films.I hunt and peck and click, still trying to figure out how some basic stuff. This is partially because I've never used Windows 10 or 8 before. I use Windows 7 on my laptop. I've also never used a tablet before. REALLY -- can't computer or software companies include some basic instructions -- PAPER manuals -- with their products? Surely every product attracts some first time users? It's not as "intuitive" as some tech nerds think. Must I always go to YouTube searching for instructions for every new piece of software?

I want to make something VERY clear about this product. When you read through the reviews which happen to be negative, consider that the things SOME people find to be negative are actually desirable trade-offs to other people. That was the case for me. I absolutely loved this product, and I was glad to have most of the things other people complained about.

    1. People complain about the keyboard/case. I, for one, LOVE the keyboard case. I find it to look incredibly professional in a business setting, which was very important to me since this was purchased to be a travel business computer meant to be seen in and out of meetings and/or client-visits. The keyboard/case is very thin and light, and yes, that means it was going to be less sturdy than every other thick and bulky case out there, but this is a trade-off. I didn't WANT the most sturdy or protective case, I wanted the most MOBILE case/keyboard combo. I got one that's perfect for my needs. Key's work great, have a backlit when it gets dark, feel normal to me, and the trackpad is surprisingly pleasant despite me usually disliking trackpads. I find that the case is sufficient at holding up my screen when in "laptop" mode, and it covers both sides of the device so people on the street don't know it's a computer, as it also looks similar to a leather-bound notebook.

    2. The CPU is much better than I expected. I purchased the M5, 4 GB of ram, version. For work, I needed to run two windows of teamviewer to remote into some proprietary software at my office, while also running 6 tabs of Chrome, 2 tabs of internet explorer, and 1 tab of firefox. I have a super thin Bluetooth mouse that I keep with me, and that connects no problem. Everything seems to run fine. (just to be clear, my Huawei is the computer running all the browsers simultaneously, not the computer I'm remoting into). It's actually kind of surprising, since I'm used to working on an i5 with 8gb of ram, but this seems to be handling the job. The CPU seems to have this temporary boost feel to it, so that, when you click to open up a new program or launch a new browser tab, the CPU temporarily kicks into high gear and runs like a much faster chip. Then it calms back down, once it's done launching, so that it doesn't overheat. This means that it actually feels like a higher quality processor so long as you aren't doing any SUSTAINED stressful processing, like rendering projects, video editing, or playing video games. For office work, it's perfect. And because it's a fanless design, unlike the higher quality chips, this tablet was able to be built super thin and remain super quiet. No noise what-so-ever. This thinness and the no noise makes this a trade off that I consider worth it when comparing it to the Microsoft Surface, which I find to be bulky (too thick), noisy (due to the fans), and too heavy.

    3. The Battery. People are complaining about the battery being on the lower end of the spectrum for similar products, and that's true, but that's because the other products don't typically pack a fully functional version of Windows 10 on a decently fast computer all into an Ipad sized screen. They're either thicker, include fans, or have opted to go for cheaper fanless chipsets like Atom processors, which are terrible compared to this M5. Considering how thin and powerful this device is, and considering that it's not running a stripped down light operating system like IOS, I'm actually satisfied with the battery life. I don't understand why more people don't simply view this as a trade-off. You can't have everything. If you want super slim and longevity, pick an ipad pro. If you want a full operating system with better battery life (but are okay with thicker, heavier, and less comfortable) just buy a surface pro instead. It isn't a "this is better than that" issue. It's simply preference. The battery life is sufficient to last a decent 4 hours of heavy office work with screen at max brightness. I've found that apple products are able to charge this device through its USB-C charger, so I've been able to charge it in the car very quickly in between meetings. (Honestly, the apple charger seems to charge it a lot faster than the one which came with it.) I keep one charger indoors and one in the car, and therefore have no need to carry one on me in a case, which was the point of buying this.

    4. Ports. Yes, there is only one USB port and it's used for charging, but this is not a problem when you can buy a slim and lightweight USB c dock. I didn't opt for the huawei matedock since it looked too bulky. I found one on Amazon that was tiny and fit into my pocket without being an annoyance. Again, had this device been designed with more docks, including standard sized USB ones, the tablet would have had to have been thicker. Personally, I like it the way it is so that I can opt to have the extra usbs attached when needed but generally not worry about them.

    Conclusion?
I wanted light clutter, no bulky laptop case which had to hang from my shoulder, and something which was super thin, super mobile, but still functional for office work, all while blending into a professional environment and looking similar to a leather-bound notepad. Huawei gave me EXACTLY what I wanted.

Processor Description: Intel Core M5Size: 4 GB RAM, 128 GB SSDStyle: Tablet OnlyColor: Space GrayVerified Purchase
I recently purchased the Huawei Matebook from Amazon and have so far been pleased. I have been using an iPad (4th gen) until now and felt that it was becoming sluggish. I decided against getting a new iPad because of the ways iOS limits how I can use it and I wanted a more PC like experience.

I had wanted to purchase a Surface Pro 4 but the ridiculous price on it, especially where I live, made me look in other directions. I read all kinds of reviews on different Windows 10 tablets and I decided I would either get the Samsung TabPro S or the Huawei Matebook. The Samsung tablet comes with the keyboard but only has the M3 processor option. So I ended up purchasing the Matebook at the discounted price of 499$ sans keyboard with the M5 processor. That price is amazing considering the TabPro and Surface retails for nearly 2000$ where I live.

The hardware is good, really nothing to complain about. The screen seems huge coming from my old iPad and is really bright, some reviews say it isn't, but it is. The hardware is really thin and light. The M5 processor is just fast enough for my needs, that is mostly browsing the web and watching videos. Most programs open near instantly and i’ve had no problems with multiple tabs. I will use it to edit photos in Lightroom on the go and I foresee no problems there. The speakers are louder than the ones in my iPad, but that was never a problem. The fingerprint reader has worked every single time and it’s clearly better than on my Galaxy S6.

The hardware might not have any problems, but the software is still an issue. I remember with my iPad when it was new, I was constantly having issues with wanting to do a task and if there was no app for it then I was out of luck. This improved over time but I am not sure it will in this case. I bought this device for the tablet experience and that experience is lacking. This is of course no fault of Huawei but it needs to be mentioned. Windows 10 in tablet mode appears at first glance to be quite good, but it is not a pure tablet mode and the tablet experience is just not on par with iOS. UI elements are to small and pop-up menus are tiny. The app selection is improving slowly but it’s just so far behind everything else. I have windows 10 on my desktop and it’s buggy, and on a tablet it’s still buggy. I really hope Microsoft will fix these issues but that remains to be seen.
When professional reviewers say that you need the keyboard with these tablet hybrids it has nothing to do with the quality of the tablet as a hardware product. The fact is at this time the tablet mode in Windows is just not good enough.

    In Conclusion:
The Huawei Matebook is an excellent product, I am happy with my purchase and I will probably add the keyboard and pen to the mix eventually. The Windows tablet experience is lacking but hopefully it will get better.

Smart equipment. Two months worked ok, the problems started afterwards. The main and common problem is that of freezing the screen, many problems even with the touch. I do not use it for games, it is used only for internet and office navigation.Imagine a moment when you are browsing or navigating and your screen freezes for many seconds 😟.Before buying, ask someone who has such a device.

Wow can't believe they're selling it at this price. Screen is gorgeous, full PC, in a super super light form factor. The stylus feels amazing!!! just brilliant. I personally think it's a better buy over the surface pro. Unfortunately the pro design is a little dated now, they're heavy to hold in 1 hand when taking notes, and the choice of processor does disservice to the form factor where fanless and light is called for.

This tablet is also FAST. Or at least feels much more responsive than the similarly equipped Samsung Tab Pro S, which I had to return due to DOA trackpad and frustratingly difficult to update samsung junks and custom driver for the stylus.

The touchpad is large and feels really smooth and great to use!

Battery is about 6 hours, but do I care? 6 hours is a long time to be productive, away from the desk and socket. I went for m3 and 4GB ram. The m5 might have shorter battery so your mileage may vary.

The only criticism I have is they should put magnet on the back cover, instead of only at the bottom hinge around the connector. This would have made the tablet so much sturdier for use in lap. I suppose I can tape some Velcros to the back of the tablet and on the flap, that should take care of this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excelente equipo

1.0 out of 5 stars Producto aparentemente en buenas condiciones, pero no.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excelente, aunque no incluye teclado no stylus
Reviewed in Mexico on July 5, 2018
La tableta es excelente. Buen tamaño. Rápida, ligera y delgada. Es muy bonita. Lo que sugiero aclarar es que no incluye teclado ni el stylus. Es importante para considerarlo en el precio, ya que tienen un costo importante.
