Subtle, Stylish and Smart

Your sense of style is uniquely you. Let vívosmart 3 complement that style without trying to overshadow it. Featuring a slim, inconspicuous band, vívosmart 3 is as hip as anything in your closet. Even better, it’s a master of subtlety. The tracker’s hidden display is only visible when you want it to be. When you’re not using it, it disappears into the device. It’s the perfect companion for the office, the gym, the pool and everywhere in between.

Daily Fitness Monitoring

Thanks to Elevate wrist-based heart rate technology¹, vívosmart 3 activity tracker is full of great features that let you get a better idea of your current fitness level. For example, it’s our first dedicated activity tracker to offer VO2 max estimate. It can even estimate your fitness age, which you may be able to decrease over time with hard work and regular exercise.

Wellness Monitoring

vívosmart 3 tracks heart rate variability (HRV), which is used to calculate and display your stress level. You can look at this graph right on your device anytime you’re sitting or at rest. When the level starts to move up, it indicates that your stress is getting higher. What causes this? Any number of physical or emotional external sources. vívosmart 3 helps you recognize when this is happening so you can find a way to relieve the stress.

Your Personal Rep Counter

Gym rats, rejoice. We’re adding a companion to your workout — or more specifically, a companion that’s great at keeping count. When you start a strength training activity on vívosmart 3, the device will capture your exercises, reps and sets along with your work and rest times so you can leave the notebook at home. That data gets pushed to Garmin Connect during your next sync so you can review your workout in even greater detail.

Smart Notifications and Smarter Features

To help keep up with your busy lifestyle, you can view emails, text messages and social network notifications right on your wrist. Other features that help you stay linked with life include automatic uploads to Garmin Connect and compatibility with TrueUp, which lets you synchronize multiple activity trackers. The ability to find your phone and music controls are also available right at the wrist.

Great listed features that don't deliver.
It turns out I'm more unhappy with this product vs happy. I'll start with features that I do like and why I'll continue to wear the watch:Pros:-The REM easy wake up feature is definitely a favorite. It waits until you're out of REM during sleep to wake you up so you don't wake up all groggy. I typically set this alarm 5-10 minutes prior to what I would set my normal alarm and it works wonders. Thumbs up!-It's a smart watch, so it gives me message, phone call, email notifications so I can decide whether to reach for my phone or delay.-It counts steps and does a good job at keeping tract of my BMR calories.-It sometimes keeps track of my heart rate if I'm literally standing still.-It keeps track of my rest periods during my weight training workouts.-It doesn't stay on the entire time. Saves the battery. Although I charge it every day, it's nice that it can last up to 3 days for me.-it can find your phone if it's within 7 feet and it MAY track your VO2 fitness. I say may because it took me about 7 tries. And I hate running.-It tells time. I like to keep track of time.-the app keeps everything organized and allows me to customize it to show what I want and in what order I want it.-It's not a fitbit. But if they don't fix the following issues, I may have to jump ship because here...we...go...CONS:- Heart rate. Does an extremely crappy job of keeping track of your heart rate if you're not standing still. I depend on heart rate during my workouts because I want to see how hard I'm pushing myself because that will tell me how many calories I'm burning and how many I need to consume. Biggest disappointment was last night when I wore both the Vivosmart watch AND the Jabra Sport Elite (Tracks you're heart rate through your ear canal) and if you look at the pictures I post with this review, SAME workout, vivosmart says 310 calories vs 695 calories the Jabra detected. UNACCEPTABLE. I've had this watch since August. How many other MAJOR miscalculations have I done because of this watch? Not happy. Even standing still, the vivosmart will detect a higher heart rate vs the Jabra by 10 BPM, but during workouts, it detects slower heart rates by over 40-60 BPM. Is it because there's a small tattoo near the point where I wear the watch? I don't see why, because I've worn on my other wrist where there isn't a tattoo and get the same results!-Customization. Come on. I'm an Android user, I LOVE customizing and tailoring everything to what I prioritize. So why can't I decide the order of the options on the watch? Simple fix.-Touch screen. I swear I yell at this watch several times during my workout when I finish a set and then tap the watch to begin my rest period, but nothing will happen. I'll more carefully tap the button again, and nothing. I'll stand still and tap it and STILL nothing, so I'll yell and furiously tap it multiple times until the rest timer begins. Other times, the watch will graze my pants and it'll start the rest period, or set. Where ever I am. No consistency on the touch screen.-Flick of the wrist? Fitbit has this feature, why can't garmin? No, garmin wants you to bring your arm down and then raise to chest level. And if it doesn't work, you have to stupidly drop your arm and raise it again and hope it works the second time. "Why don't you just wake up the watch with your other hand?" I might HAVE something in my other hand that prevents me from doing said action.-The stress feature is questionable. I'll be sitting here peacefully and it'll suggest I have a high stress number and then I'll be super stressed/angry and it'll read that my stress level is low. Really?-The app. I LOVE that you can add weight and reps to track your volume. I HATE the fact that it takes me an additional 15 minutes to do this after my workout because it reads about 99% of all exercises incorrectly, and THEN it doesn't let me add custom exercises! So Not only do I have to figure out what exercise from their list closely resembles the exercise I did, THEN I have to do it ONE BY ONE for everything else. There is no way to select, for example, 4 exercises where I did the same exercise and label them all the same, I have to click each individual exercise and change it. It was an awesome feature to see how well I'm doing/improving, but wow, TIME consuming. I still write all my workouts with pen and paper because this app is not as user friendly as they make it seem. Simple fixes here, y'all.-Doesn't have a widget. That's an easy one guys. Get me a widget.-Sleep feature. Give me the option to have the app prompt me to imput the actual hours I sleep vs when the watch thinks I went to bed and woke up. This is something I'd have to consciously remember to do, but I don't.-The running tracker is not accurate. I ran a 5 mile run and this watch was off by almost a mile. Go with the vivosport that has the GPS if you're mostly a runner.-The auto set/rest detector during weight training workouts tends to think I'm doing a set when I start walking. And sometime stops a set while I'm just pausing during the set.Simple fixes, I think. Except the heart rate monitor. Maybe you can partner with Jabra to interlink the watch and headphones for the most accurate HR sensor around. I don't want to go to fitbit. I would like to stay with garmin, and I went with this watch because of the weight lifting tracking, the VO2, the sleep tracker, the REM easy wake up, calorie tracker, the smartwatch capabilities, and the fact that it's not a fitbit.Keep this customer. Improve your next watch.
