Original Review of 4 stars:
Relatively easy installation since my door opens to the left as it comes configured for that by default. I had some trouble with getting my Wink to sync with it. When using the Wink app barcodes scanner it said it was incompatible. But if I selected a Z-Wave device from the sensors section, I was able to connect it up with the wink hub within 5 feet of door hinged item. When connected to the hinge pin, the instructions indicate that the device needs to be up against the door trim. This works well for me and doesn't seem to move away from the device. After getting the device configured in my Wink setup, I was able to create a robot in about 90 seconds that sends me a notification when the door opens/closes. I've tested it and it works as expected.
I will admit that I was wary of purchasing this based on others results and ratings for the device. But I'm happy with how it works. I'll be testing this out over the next month or so and if I'm really happy with it, then I will be getting more for the other doors.
BUT - I'm using them to turn lights and stuff on, so it works great for that. Easy installation (other than calibration) and no mess to clean up.
If you're looking for instant sensors for an alarm, go with ones that you drill into the door (hidden ones).
While the instructions are very poor I was able to re-configure the sensor for a right hand door. It almost immediatly connected to Smartthings but would not update between open and closed. At this time the sensor was not installed I was just making sure everything worked. In the instructions was "instructions" for changing mode. No instructions on why this may be needed but after playing with this a few times the sensor started reporting open and closed.
Easily installed onto the door, and found it was horribly loose on the hinge pin. Remembered an unlabeled plastic piece inthe box and decided this was a insert to improve fit and it was. After install it would detect the door open after about 18 inches so followed instructions for moving actuator. After over an hour of adjsuting the best results I was able to attain is that it senses open after 6 inches of the door being open and will sense close about an inch before the door is fully closed. Horrible resolution! Luckily this is one of my least sensitive doors for security. I will go back after relaxing from this exercise in futility and shim the thing so it will work for my needs.
For those of you thinking "this idiot doesn't know what he's doing" I spent 30 years as an electro-mechanical tech adjusting multi million dollar equipment where a sensor out of adjustment by a few millimeters could crush a $100000 part. I know what I'm doing. On the same day I installed a recessed contact on another door in 10 minutes including measuring, drilling and painting. The hinge design is just bad. There should be a small bracket to hold the body of the device, along with the hinge pin support, to provide stability and rigidity. The actuator arm should have a jacking screw to provide more adjustment then just changing position on the gear. Save your self frustration!

Paired it with a Dome alarm/chime. That works but it was annoying. Ended up just allowing the notifications on my iPad. That seems to be sufficient. I get a pop up message and a ding when the door opens and again when it closes.
