AI-generated from the text of customer reviews

26 customers mention26 positive0 negative

Customers find the motion detector easy to pair with their Z-wave controller and SmartThings. They also mention that the sensor looks nice and pairs easily with the Wink 2 hub. However, some customers report issues with the configuration process.

"...Even though it runs on a batter, I love how it integrates with my Wink hub...." Read more

"...It did easily connect to Smartthings. But getting it set up to correctly detect door open and closed is another matter...." Read more

"This paired with my Z-wave controller easily. (Vera Plus) The controller even knew what I needed to do to put this specific device into pairing...." Read more

"...Operation has been reliable. It hasn't had any connectivity issues and I get an update on my phone every time the door is opened within a few..." Read more

126 customers mention71 positive55 negative

Customers are mixed about the performance of the motion detector. Some mention that it has been working flawlessly since they installed it and in conjunction with the SmartThings hub. The operation has been reliable, and the device works good as far as speed and range. However, others say that it does not operate correctly, is too slow, and sometimes doesn't trigger. It's difficult to get it to trigger right when the door starts to open. Customers also say that the execution is flawed and it's not good to use them for a monitored alarm or any type of alarm.

"...It still works like a charm. That's why I've upgraded my review to 5 stars...." Read more

"...They are NOT good to use them for a monitored alarm or any type of alarm...." Read more

"...longer life without changing them, but even if not, it seems MUCH more durable, better built and more sensitive to movement...." Read more

"...Bought this as it seemed simple to install and it worked well with smartthings hub as far as the reviews I found online before I bought it said...." Read more

58 customers mention32 positive26 negative

Customers are mixed about the ease of installation of the motion detector. Some mention it's simple to install and program with their Samsung SmartThings Hub. However, others say that it was difficult to set up under openzwave and takes a lot of trial and error.

"...Relatively easy installation since my door opens to the left as it comes configured for that by default...." Read more

"...Easy installation (other than calibration) and no mess to clean up...." Read more

"...And yes, the calibration process is a pain and time consuming...." Read more

37 customers mention21 positive16 negative

Customers are mixed about the motion detection of the product. Some mention it's a great motion sensor that works well with Samsung Smart Things, while others say that it fails to detect motion half of the time. The motion detection will stay active for about 7 to 9 minutes, and it'll be triggered for detecting motion.

"...even if not, it seems MUCH more durable, better built and more sensitive to movement...." Read more

"...The problem with this GE sensor is that it only checks for motion every 4 minutes and does not send a new "motion detected" signal to the..." Read more

"Great motion sensor that works really well with Samsung Smart Things...." Read more

"...The motion detection is good, however it doesn't detect motion until four minutes after the triggered motion detection...." Read more

31 customers mention19 positive12 negative

Customers are mixed about the quality of the motion detector device. Some mention it's a great product, while others say that it doesn't reliably detect door open/close status. Some customers also say that the GE sensor is bad and the Philips sensor is good.

"...The concept is great and seemingly would be an easy install. It did easily connect to Smartthings...." Read more

"...The detection distance for these motion sensors is awful...." Read more

"The concept is great; however, the execution is flawed...." Read more

"...Pros :1. Sturdy construction2. Awesome idea, zwave device that while it isn't exactly small, it does blend in over time...." Read more

29 customers mention9 positive20 negative

Customers are mixed about the fit of the motion detector device. Some mention that it's small, compact, and easy to pair with the Wink Hub. That said, some say that it is a little larger than they thought, too small with the bushing, and not a good fit for a Wink hub.

"...This is strictly a motion sensor, no lumen, humidity nor temp. It is tiny and most of the space is used by 2 CR123A batteries, mine is hardwired..." Read more

"...It has a very small form factor, you only need to remove the hinge pin once for the cap installation and the bottom tube twists off for changing..." Read more

"...The unit is fairly large, but for me the color matches the trim and it's in a corner, so it doesn't really stick out that much...." Read more

"...It is still not tight, but after you get it set up, it's not an issue that it's not fitting snug on the hinge pin...." Read more

28 customers mention9 positive19 negative

Customers have mixed opinions about the battery life of the motion detector. Some mention that it has a great battery life, while others say that it died within a few days.

"...5 seconds before the lights would be turned on because the sensor was in an offline state and it has to go through the reconnection process with the..." Read more

"Gives 1% battery status with new batteries and fails to detect motion half of the time. It’s using the “new batteries” it came with...." Read more

"...I ordered 3 and one came with a partially dead battery so I knocked off a star." Read more

28 customers mention6 positive22 negative

Customers find the adjustability of the motion detector device to be very finicky. They mention that the calibration process is difficult and the device is not extremely precise. Customers also say that the device needs to be more configurable and that the sensitivity is not pet-friendly.

"...Overall, given its calibration process and limited swing range, I can't give it more than three stars. It really is just, okay...." Read more

"...Difficult to make it precise initially but then I realized there are markings on the sensor and arm to give you some send of location because both..." Read more

"...Also because the lever has discrete adjustment positions I couldn't get it to trigger until the door was open about 6-8 inches, but this can be..." Read more

"...And the sensitivity is adjustable and there is a test mode too. I should have read the directions with the first one!" Read more

Works as desribed bit not precise for security purposes
Giving this a 4 star because it works as described but not as precise as expected. Works on. Basic mechanism (which is good) once the arm rotates past a certain point it triggers as open. Originally set up for left but can be re arranged for a right hindge also. Works with smart things perfectly. The issues is with the calibration. You have to move the arm to different locations to the sensor. What i wanted to do is to make sure the door was closed and that the smart lock (schlage) was deployed. I needed the precision because if the door is open and the lock deployed the lock still reads as locked as it can't tell if the door is closed. The instruction mention to turn the sensor until it lights up the led (open point which is preset) back it up a little and place the arm in it. Difficult to make it precise initially but then I realized there are markings on the sensor and arm to give you some send of location because both are round. Another issues is that the arm fits over the sensor and the round stub you hold onto to keep it still is too short to it will often rotate (there's tension on it) while placing the arm in. Further more once you fasten the cap on the device to lock the sensor and arm in place it often changes the location of the open a but due to the tension from the screw. After and hour of calibrating (took about 10 mins to install) the best i can get it is to trigger the door as oppen when it's about 2-3 inches open already. Not precise enough to ensure the door is closed when the lock is deployed. Attached is a picture of how open the door is before it triggers as open/closed.In summary useful if you just need to sense of a door is opened up lot if you want to turn in a light or something but not precise enough for security purposes (would get a magnetic slide version for that purpose).
