Here's a newbie to the home security camera system. I actually was looking for a baby and/or pet monitor. I ended up here because it's a newer-generation product and I assumed newer is better.
First things first: set up.
It took me ~15 mins to read through quick start guide, download and test the app, and set up the camera system w/o mounting the camera to the wall - I was trying to fully charge the battery first.
Pros:
* Easy setup. I didn't have to sync my camera with the base station, they just paired automatically, same with the Foscam app.
* High video quality
* Free cloud storage - the phrase "7 days of free Foscam cloud storage" was so confusing to me (only free for 7 days then I need to pay for the cloud storage or what??). I double checked with their tech and figured that they meant to say "you can store video clips for up to 7 days as long as they do not exceed 1 GB - no fee". I don't see the reason why I need to store recordings for greater than 1 week.
* Alternatively alarm recordings can be saved to an external hard drive. You just need to install an USB to the base station, and the alarm recordings will be saved to hard drive automatically.
* App has been stable so far. You can adjust the sensitivity of the alarm or you can turn it off.
* More than 1 cameras can be paired with one base station.
* Good and fast tech support.
Cons:
* I need, a detailed user manual so that I have something to refer to when I come across random questions such as "please define low sensitivity vs high" or "they paired automatically so what do I need the sync button for?" Their techs are very knowledgeable, but still, I prefer to have some resources on hand.
Overall it's a good product!

Video works nice, motion detection makes it useless.
Purchased this camera to use for purposes of monitoring the front door and porch. The set up was pretty easy as the base and camera were linked to the app right away. The quality of the video is good and clear but for some reason I had trouble getting the motion notifications to work well. I tried in two different places to get the motion notifications to be responsive but no matter what, despite seeing clear motion on the camera, there would not be any notification generated. The camera was first placed in the first floor window towards the walkway and when that wasn't working I tried placing it right at the front door window. Even with it pointing right outside the front door someone can walk right up to it and no notification is generated.If this is not resolved soon I will likely just return the camera because without the motion alerts it is basically useless. It is a shame because it seems like a perfect solution for my purposes. The battery life also has seemed decent even with viewing the live feed from time to time. If they could improve the app and actually get the motion notifications working this could be a five star item. As it stands now without motion notification being reliable though the drawbacks far outweigh the pros especially for this price point. My cheap $40 camera has no problems firing off motion notifications so to pay $200 and not have such a simple feature has left me more than disappointed.EDIT: Moved it outside to test it not through glass and was able to more frequently get motion notifications. Interestingly with it outside I was still finding it was definitely missing some motion that I know occurred as my mail did not mysteriously show up. A few times I noticed it wouldn't alert me for walking right out my front door in front of the camera, nor would it be saved on the cloud storage. Speaking of the app, using it is not a very smooth experience for playing back video or reviewing motion alerts making it annoying to review what is actually important. It takes awhile to connect to the live feed even on the same wifi and it stutters more than it should when trying to test my placement. The worst of it the overall interface for playing back the videos in which you use this terrible side scroller controller that never quite does what you want and makes me not even want to bother to check through each one. If there were more comprehensive screenshots taken of the video like I have seen in other applications this could at least be made better.
