Some of the options in the UI are named a little funny. It does beep continuously when there is motion which is annoying when you are standing at the door talking. The first option suppondenly stops this but it doesn't work for me and there's only a max of a 15 second delay which isn't long enough for that (should be in the minutes). Minor point though.
Highly recommended purchase.
I really like this camera, but... it’s not weather resistant. It cannot be installed on an exterior door. This is from the Quick Start Guide: “Do not expose the camera to the harsh environment like high temperature, humid, salt mist, or rain, orherwise the device may be damaged.“ I confirmed with Ezviz support. That’s quite puzzling given that it has a doorbell built-in. Ezviz REALLY needs a proper doorbell camera. I’m sending it back.
The picture is acceptable. There is quite a bit of distortion. 720p just doesn’t compete with other 1080p, or even 4MP cameras. The notifications worked well. You can configure the ‘human detection’ delay to suit your environment. Night vision is quite short, at around 10ft. There are 3 different doorbell tones, and the volume can be adjusted. A blue ring illuminates around the doorbell button as someone approaches from the other side of the door. The person does not have to press the doorbell for recording to begin. Just being near the door triggers recording (the length of the recording can be configured). The inside monitor remains off, unless you wave your hand in front of the sensor. It goes to sleep after 10-30 seconds (configurable). The audio seems pretty good. For the most part, I didn’t have trouble connecting to the camera from the app. Occassionally, it took 2 attempts to wake it up. Battery life seems fine. I had about 60% remaining after 4 days of testing. Depending how you install the camera, you have the option to keep the monitor plugged in.
Note that the camera does not support really strong passwords. The symbol keyboard is missing several common characters. I had to change my password to attach to my WIFI. The camera does not - yet - support automatic WIFI configuration from the app. You have to set it up manually on the touch screen.
To summarize, I would have gladdly kept this camera IF IT WAS WEATHER RESISTANT! It should have been weather resistant. The only places where water can get in are the speaker - which could easily be sealed - and the doorbell button, which should have been a capacitive button, instead of a physical button.
I have to think that a weather resistant version is in the works (please be in the works!).
