Product Description
The Channel Master CM-7777V3 Titan 2 television antenna booster (preamplifier) will amplify digital and HD signals received by your antenna. This preamplifier is a high gain, low noise preamplifier used for weak signal areas to allow a weak signal that is present at the antenna to be amplified to a viewable strength. This TV antenna preamplifier is designed for use in the weakest of signal areas only. Keep in mind, due to its ultra high gain amplification, it can be subject to overdriving issues when used in areas with fairly strong signals present. In areas with a mix of both strong and weak signals, the Channel Master CM-7778V3 Titan 2 Medium Gain Preamplifier is a better choice. Preamplifiers are also used if you anticipate distributing your signal with a digital splitter to multiple televisions throughout your house as splitters reduce the signal strength available at each output.

It works well beyond my expectations. I had lost signal on the local Fox which isn't very local. It's 80 miles north of where I live, and while we've had no booster for the three years we've lived, it was always dicey reception. Atmospheric conditions have played havoc on our signal for all the locals but especially Fox. So I wasn't very hopeful when I put the booster on the antenna because our Fox station had just disappeared completely after the antenna was moved off the roof during a re-roof. But I connected the booster up, and ran a rescan on the TV for what seemed like the 800th time 😁, and boom there it was on the first try. No repositioning of the antenna needed which shocked me to no end. It's been 4 days now, and it's been awesome that the Fox station comes in as well as NBC, CBS ABC now PBS which I never got to work before, all there and working!
Big thanks to the AntennaMan over there on YouTube, and you guys here at Channel Master for making something that actually works! At this point I highly recommend it!
This thing is GREAT for getting more range / more channels in fringe / deep fringe areas.
This thing will not work in (sub-)urban areas or as a distribution amp.
Pros_________________Cons:
- red hot gain - no gain control to make it more forgiving of overloads
- sturdy casing - mine wouldn't open so I couldn't change the FM trap setting
- value - crummy warranty (seriously?? 90 days??)
This thing's greatest strength -- gain -- is its weakness. If you live within 30 miles of a powerful FM or TV transmitter, airport, or military base, it will get hopelessly overloaded (even decreasing the signal). That means nearly all metro areas and many suburbanites should buy something else (look at the Kitz Tech amps, which have a nice gain control). I tested the Channel Master against 3 other high gain amps, and this one came out best of the bunch. Unfortunately, there aren't any analog signals in my area so I can't give you any qualitative review about its noise figure, but on digital channels the picture was free of pixelation from 300 kW transmitters 100 miles away. When the wind is blowing the right direction, I get a 21 kW station that's 150 miles away (but...don't expect that!)
In my area, there are no transmitters within 30 miles and nothing more than 100 kW within 70 miles. So interference and overloading are just not an issue, and this amp sings. I've got stacked Yagis, but frankly there's little point to that strategy as you lose much of the 3dB gain from the second antenna to the insertion loss of the balun that combines them. In contrast, this amp gives nearly 30 dB of gain -- that's 1000x the signal from a single antenna.
How reliable is the hardware? It's worked great for 24 hours ;-). If you're concerned about premature failure, run it inside your house (at the other end of the antenna cable's loss) rather than on the mast for the first 90 days. That way, you'll get a pleasant surprise of another 5 dB of gain when you move the amp to the mast where it should have been installed in the first place..
My #1 gripe about this item is its packaged directions. If you follow the assembly by looking at the picture for the connection positions of the 'mounted' pre-amp, you'll connect it wrong. Also, the written aspect of the packaged directions was ambiguous and did not specify the proper connections <--> by NAME. Having installed a pre-amp previously, we identified that error immediately. We went to the Channel Master website and pulled up their website's PDF instructions for the 7777 unit. The picture of the pre-amp connection (in its upside-down mounted position), again showed an incorrect 'from -> to' wiring sequence. However, the written description was adequately detailed and clarified the appropriate from -> to connection sequence.
My #2 gripe was the directive in BOTH the packaged directions and the website's to connect the power supply "as close to the TV as possible". We initially followed that Channel Master directive despite the fact our prior pre-amp was connected as close to the aerial (NOT the TV) as possible. We have a 100' coax run from the aerial to the TV. This configuration with the power supply close to the TV gave us absolutely NOTHING. NO reception... NONE at all. However, after disconnecting and moving the power supply to the prior pre-amp's position, which is within 8' of the aerial & pre-amp, we were blessed with some really good reception.
Channel Master should address this issue as the pictoral connection instruction showing the connections for the 'mounted pre-amp' is incorrect and could be hazardous to the person installing and to the equipment.
I can't say anything on reliability of this product as it's only been connected for 3 days. If it fails anytime soon... I'll revise my rating.

I live in Calgary and less than 15 km from all the tv station towers just west of the city, but could not consistently receive Global or City tv signals which come from two towers side by side. Seemed odd to me as the other three signals (only 5 total available in YYC) were very good and their towers are less than 1 km from the others. I have a MOHU Sky antenna which is amplified but the amp just wasn't strong enough.
This ChannelMaster 7777 is sold as a high power amp and my concern was over amplification based on reviews. I used the Sky antenna (which is really compact and blends in nicely with my home exterior so I didn't want to use another one) and it immediately picked up the two stations super clearly. The other stations are fine as well - no apparent over amplification issues. I wish there were more OTA stations here in Calgary but now that I have the basics I'm a happy guy.
We have both strong and weak stations, and this amplifier adapts to both, not overdriving the TVs.
It's well constructed. I was also able to stretch the rubber boots over the connectors, and did not have to re-crimp connectors to get the benefit of this weather protection.
While you can get cheaper amplifiers, they probably won't work as well as this one. It's worth the higher cost.
