Customers like the accuracy of the gas smoke fire alarm. They mention that it does a good job of monitoring the radon levels, provides accurate and daily readings, and is well beyond accurate enough for household monitoring and mitigation. It's highly accurate when compared with existing radom detectors and hygrometers. It helps them see trends in radod due to weather changes and when the atmospheric pressure changes. The three sensors appear to be accurate as compared to data from other sensors.

I had no idea that there was an audible alarm on the device. It sounds a bit like the chime that sounds when you walk into a small store. For two solid days, I walked around my house suspiciously eyeballing the fire alarms, refrigerator, dishwasher, furnace, and even a portable emergency battery. It took a long time for me to even think of this device, which means the alarm is really not very alarm-y. The alarm can be turned off with controls on the bluetooth device.
I love that this tracks data over time. Someday when I sell the house, I'll be able to show that there was a problem initially and that it was corrected. I'll have a long history of data to show it. That data is available on my phone or by logging in online via computer. It shows up as a line graph and there are specific data points that show up if you hover over them. This is going to help me sell my home someday, as radon is a problem in our area and people do ask about it. The purchase price is well worth the data and ongoing monitoring that this device provides. Once things level-out here with the new remediation system, I might take the AirThings to my parent's house and see what kind of readings we get there. There's no limit on the locations you can test with it. The app allows you to set up multiple locations and track the data separately. Obviously, the device can't be in two places at once (unless you have multiple devices), but you can still have multiple locations set up.
The device and software can be easily updated. Both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth need to be on. In fact, they both need to be on just to initially set up the device. If you're not using Wi-Fi for your phone, then you'll need to have data turned on. For some reason, your location is very important to this thing. If you refuse to provide it or allow it access to your location, it's a dealbreaker. If you're sensitive to giving out that information, this may not be the device for you. In the last update, the device actually talked to me. That's creepy. I know people love smart devices, but I prefer to not have conversations with mine. Don't talk to me, creepy little radon detector. Just do your job and quietly collect data. I still give it five stars, though. It's a very helpful little device.
But the problems only continued. It said I needed to Update and that it would take 2-4 minutes. Really??? It took FOREVER to get to 40%, then didn't budge for an hour, still at 40%. I had to use my phone!! But alas, if you leave the update page after it's been stuck on 40% for an hour, the update stops.
I then tried the update 1 1/2 days later. First, it goes stuck at 4%. I did a Force stop, and started it again. It went to 13% and stayed there 45 minutes!! Again, I had to use my phone, so the update stops once again. This is ridiculous.
Sure, it measured the Radon levels. But how can I trust this crap device when i can't even update.
UPDATE to further underscore how lousy this has been: I tried a 4th time to update: It got to 20% and went no farther after 1 1 /2 hours. Light stays blue along with being stuck at 20%. Doesn't work to detect radon unless I remove the batteries or stop the app. Oh and by the way, the batteries in it are BRAND NEW by me. The ones that came with this did NOT work. So now, because I had to take out the batteries since it stays stuck on a very partial update (i.e. NOT updating), I'm starting fresh all over again. I have to wait 57 minutes AGAIN to retest the radon.
Also, I called the guy who mitigated our basement a 2 1/2 years ago where this was supposed to sit. I bought it to make sure all still is well. He says something doesn't sound right for this Wave to go from around 35ish one full day to 235ish 1 1/2 days later. He said it sounds funky. Whether he's right or wrong, just having FOUR tries to update that failed is enough to feel like I got junk. It has now gone back to get my money back...and I will NEVER get another Wave again. Look at the amount of one stars for a clue....
The only downside is that for some reason it doesn't always alert me when my radon levels are too high, even though that's a feature it should have.
The app is really easy to use and very well designed, and it shows daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly averages and graphs, with an easy to ready color code system (green = good, red = bad, yellow = ok) It also shows temperature and humidity levels, which turned out to be hugely helpful for my basement.
