PROs:
- For starters, I will say that I love the weight and size of the mouse. My hands arent abnormally large or small. I'd say they are about average (pinky to thumb spread length ~8.5 in). My previous wireless mouse was much smaller and less comfortable to hold, so going to a bigger size was really nice. For those who had a BIGGER previous mouse, going to this mouse that is smaller might be something you dont like. Make sure you know what the dimensions are before buying. The weight of this mouse makes it feel premium, but isnt something that you have to "lug" around.
- Connectivity: I love having my USB ports open as often as possible, so using bluetooth is a must have. So far, I've had zero issues connecting. The second my computer is on, and the instant I flip the switch under the mouse, I'm up and running with no lag. Im sure the connection would be even better with the USB dongle, but like I said, I like to keep the ports open. I also switch between using my laptop/desktop for school and work. Using the 1-2-3 button for devices has also been seamless.
- Scrolling: Idk why everyone else hates it, but I love the scrolling on this. I like using the free-scrolling where I just rol it and let it go for a second or two. But it is also really easy to just switch to traditional scrolling bit by bit.
- Battery life: I've had this for well over a month now, and I turn it off at the end of every day. Obviously it claims much longer battery life, but so far I've had no issues. I also prefer mice that run on AA batteries rather than plug in ones, so that I can change it out. When the plug-in-to-charge mice finally die....theyre dead for good. A simple battery switch with this is a lot more appealing to me. I will update in time if anything changes regarding battery life.
CONs/criticisms:
- The one thing I will say about this mouse is that, though it can be programmed otherwise, it is mainly for right handers. I am right handed, but there are times where I want to use the mouse with my left hand while writing or doing with with my right hand. Left handed people might not like the design of the mouse catering to right handers (like so many other mice out there)
- Also, gesture button can also be triggered accidentally quite often. I could just turn it off, but I do actually use it sometimes. But when Im not using it, misdirected pressure in your hand can trigger it so that can also be annoying.
OVERALL: I love this mouse. It looks professional, feels good in the hand, works well, and has great programmable functionality. Know what your needs are before buying!!! DISCLAIMER: I am not a gamer by any means. But I do like to play the occasional steam game every now and then, and I failed to notice any lag difference between this and using a wired mouse. Obviously if youre hardcore or a pro gamer you might have a strong differing opinion. But for the average person, I think the latency for this mouse, both on bluetooth and USB, is 100% acceptable for daily use. 5/5 stars for me.
When I was looking for a new mouse (after my ancient wireless one passed away) I was trying to choose from 3 models: Logitech G305 Lightspeed, M705 Marathon and M720 Triathalon (this one). I wanted the mouse to be wireless, to have multiple configurable buttons and to have a good battery life and nice ergonomic design. Choosing between the three I also took into account their price and the number of perks they came with.
I ended up choosing this one because it offered a number of benefits for a considerable price and I have not been disappointed.
So far the mouse has been just great. At first, I found it a bit more heavy than I expected, but over time I adapted to its weight being more concentrated in its lower part, and after getting a good mousepad that was no longer an issue for me. The size is also good for me, and I can use it with palm and claw grip, both of which are equally comfortable with this device. As you can see in the photos, the surface tends to pick up some dust and stains, but so far it has not gotten really greasy, and I hope it won't, taken I wipe it from time to time.
It is very ergonomically shaped, if you're right-handed (duh).
I use this mouse for many different tasks: video editing, gaming, work with documents, internet browsing, and in all cases this device has met all of my expectations. The configurable buttons and gestures are great in video editing and allow me to do my work faster and save time. For gaming, it's very responsive and easy to move around on a mousepad, despite the weight thing I noted earlier.
I found the fast scrolling wheel very useful for document scanning, and I was also very pleasantly surprised to find out that the wheel has also a side-scrolling function, which I did not notice when I was looking through its specs before purchasing.
I have not had a chance to use it on multiple devices to test out this feature, and that's the only thing I probably wish was different in this mouse - I'd really like to have that third side button as an extra configurable option, and not a switch for devices. But since there is the gesture button with 4-direction gestures you can configure, I guess one button can be reserved for switching, especially if you really work across multiple devices at once.
I can't say anything on battery life yet, as I've been using it for a month or so, but I hope it will last long (I am also trying to turn it off whenever I'm not using it, so that might add to total time).
TL;DR - very impressive and highly functional productivity and gaming mouse for a good price (cheaper on Amazon compared to the official site).

But the Triathlon at $40 takes that to the next level. Here's what they've improved:
Design and Comfort
------------------------
With the M705 Marathon, I found myself getting cramps on the wrist after long periods of use. The Triathlon on the other hand, has your hand resting in a neutral position preventing your wrists from bending thanks to the raised bottom and new shape. The new shape also provides the benefit of allowing people with bigger hands like myself to have my middle finger lifted and covered by majority of the right mouse button. On the M705, my middle finger would protrude out of the mouse significantly. This improves comfort during use. The thumb button has also improved by making the bottom part protrude more. This allows your thumb to rest naturally on the hidden gesture button where as on the Marathon, I would need to make conscious effort to ensure my thumb stays with the mouse's body or risk accidentally triggering the button. The left and right mouse buttons feel more flat which makes them easier to click and produces a satisfying click. The 3 buttons on the side felt easy enough to reach while being high enough such that you don't end up accidentally triggering the buttons, which occasionally happens on the M705 Marathon. Changing the material from a smooth plastic finish to a rubbery finish improves my grip on the mouse and has a nicer more premium feel than the Marathon.
Added Bluetooth Connectivity
-----------------------------------
Bluetooth was a big thing for me because I wanted to be dongle free since I use a 2016 Macbook Pro which has very limited ports. The bluetooth pairing is quick and connectivity is solid.
Sufficient Battery Life
--------------------------
From a technology standpoint, battery life has improved with 24 months of use over a single battery rather than 2 batteries for 3 years of use. While I would prefer to be able to use my mouse for 3 years over a single battery, 24 months is still quite sufficient and not a major issue.
Options Software
----------------------
The options software is very easy to use and has a really clean and modern user interface. This is a great step up over the unifying software that now looks dated and provides a better user experience when configuring mouse buttons. The ability to sync the mouse's button mapping and settings to the cloud is also nice. Switching to a new computer is now painless.
Conclusion
-------------
For $40, this upgrade can be easily justified. I have always been satisfied with the mouse that Logitech produces. It works on multiple platforms unlike competitors like Microsoft and they create original designs that are really comfortable to use without compromising functionality or the look of the mouse.
