Topic – Deference between MINI DIAPLAYPORT & THUNDERBOLT 2
Among cable industry , there are two kind of connectors which looks almost same but they are really different in function , signal ,and so on.
MINI Display Port is a passive audio/video technology, Thunderbolt is active generic data technology. The hardware inside the cable is necessary to get the full data throughput. A Mini DisplayPort cable will only carry Video/Audio to an attached monitors, while a Thunderbolt cable is able to carry all sorts of other data, which is required for your dock with multiple types of ports. As a professional manufacturer in cable and dongles industry , we do know the difference very well , meanwhile we said please do not use it in thunderbolt 2 port display monitor .

The missing piece of the puzzle. (2) Apple LED Cinema Displays + Mac Book Pro 2019
5 Stars
The missing piece of the puzzle. (2) Apple LED Cinema Displays + Mac Book Pro 2019
I was able to connect 2 older style 27" Apple LED Cinema Displays to my Mac Book Pro 2019. I used 2 of these devices (Thunderbolt 3 to Mini Display Port) and a Apple USB-C to Digital AV Multiport Adapter to connect to a Belkin Thunderbolt 2 Express. I was able to connect one LED CInema Display directly to the Belkin. The other Mini Display Port on the Belkin is a power port for the Belkin which connects directly to my Mac with one adapter (Thunderbolt 3 to Mini Display). The other Monitor connects directly to my Mac Book Pro 2019. Now I can close my laptop and just use my large monitors. Before you purchase this device, be aware that the Mini Display Port looks exactly like the Thunderbolt 2 port. A Thunderbolt 3 to 2 connector will not power a Mini Display Port which is found in the Apple LED Cinema Display. If you have a Thunderbolt 2 Display you'll need that adapter. See my screen shot for display settings for Energy Saver. This will keep your monitors from shutting off and going into a deep sleep.

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't work due to manufacturing error
Reviewed in the United States on December 20, 2018
This seems to be a recurring issue with these 3rd-party electronic adapters and hubs: Great price, nice, sturdy build quality, great reviews... until they hit a manufacturing run where the resulting female component of said adapter will not let the cable seat fully. Sometimes, this still allows the adapter to work if (IF!) you don't jostle the cable or move any connected equipment around. Most of the time though, it's just a dud. Such was the case with this. (And my last USB hub, and my last two 3rd party adapters... you get the idea.)

The packaging implored me not to return the adapter if I had any issues, just to please contact the manufacturer directly. Not only would they replace it promptly, they would throw in a free nondescript cable. Well, that is what I did, and nearly 4 days later, my email is still unacknowledged, so back to Amazon this goes. Sorry, but I need this for both my job and personal projects! Off to the Apple Store to pay $30 more for a like adapter, but at least it will work.
