A wearable worth your money! Beyond happy!
I'm just now coming from the 1st series apple watch to the 4th and WOW what a difference!Everything from replying to messages (even messenger replies which wasn’t a possibility in the past) is smooth, fast, and responsive. Customizing has gotten a much better and setting up multiple watch faces is fun!My main uses for this is an alarm to wake me up in the mornings, keeping track of my sleeping patterns (AutoSleep app is phenomenal), Apple Music/Watch/AirPod functionality (it all works so seamless together I freaking love it)I know Apple is expensive, but no company's product will ever work quite like theirs do and SO EASILY might I add. I’m blown away from my lack of buyers remorse (felt that heavily after the s1 purchase, but not with this series) as a person who is slowly easing my way into all things Apple from the simplicity aspect on how their products work.Worth the buy people! I recommend the “rocker” leather strap watch bands as well- they’re extremely stylish and I get compliments every time I wear it out!

Had my iWatch for three months now. After researching every similar brand on the market, finally took the "leap." Not a bit disappointed with the iWatch. Yes, it is very expensive, in my opinion; however, it has performed flawlessly. No sleep tracking, but I don't sleep in a watch, anyway. Huge assortment of apps can be used on it. Steep learning curve to get all the benefits from the product. Absolutely MUST download and carefully read the User Guide [easily obtained] from Apple's website. Battery life isn't great. Usually lasts me a 2-3 days in "normal" use.

Easy to set up. Box is huge lol it's a must that you read up on how to preserve the battery life before you begin using it for exercise and such. I have had to reset it one bc my dictation speech to txt/message wasn't working. I think Apple could have done a better job on the battery life. My Fitbits that I have had that I could receive txts on and control my music and shows steps, HR and such coils go for 3-4 days after a few years old with working out for 2 hours everyday. Other than that, it's a nice smartwatch. I didn't get the cellular bc I always have my phone within 30 feet of me for the most part. Haven't used maps on it yet. Speaker is decently loud.

I started out with a Fitbit, and it was nice to see the time during my classes but it wasn't smart enough for me so I decided to upgrade to an Apple Watch. I love it. It has time, weather, Siri, my messages, phone, and so much more. I love this device and it goes everywhere with me. Its a necessity for me now as it's so useful and makes life easier. The main feature I enjoy is being able to text. I didn't get the cellular model, but I usually have my phone nearby. I just can't use it, but it's close enough to still send and receive texts. So it's nice to draw letters on my wrist and send out messages. The downsides are no sleep tracking, which was nice on my Fitbit, and the battery life is not the greatest. There are apps to buy for sleep tracking, but I wish it was integrated. Battery life lasts about a day and a half I would say. It's not terrible, but I'm used to my Fitbit lasting longer, but I definitely wasn't doing as much. I loved my Apple Watch so much that I bought my boyfriend the Apple Watch Series 5 Nike. He loves his and we are both satisfied and love the 44mm models.

The watch itself is great compared to the Fitbit and previous generation apple watches. Overall I am super satisfied with this watch. The one thing missing is the sleep tracker. Although they have a 3rd party app that you can purchase with sleep tracking, Fitbit offers this feature for free. The ECG is American heart association approved, and works fantastically. This watch is all purpose and will be the last watch you buy for a long time. Speaking on the 44mm watch, it’s a little heavy on the wrist, but not too bothersome. Other than that, great job to apple for a fantastic watch.

The Apple Watch is a really cool piece of tech. This Series 4 is my second one, after a Series 3 I bought a year ago. It's good at some things and mediocre at others. Whether it's a good purchase for you depends on what you'll use it for.

    FITNESS TRACKING: A+
AW is really good at fitness tracking. The heart rate monitor is very accurate - whether I’m working out, walking, or sitting on the sofa, the AW heart readings compare quite closely with my Polar chest strap heart monitor, considered the gold standard of consumer heart rate monitors. I've tried the new ECG feature and it seems to work well; and, wisely, it gives you lots of info and disclaimers so you people hopefully won't use it as a substitute for proper medical care. The step counting function is as accurate as any wrist-based step counter, such as Fitbits (I own the Fitbit Alta HR, and like it pretty well). I use the stock workouts app and I like it pretty well; immediately after my workout, the AW transfers the workout data to my iPhone where I can see it in more detail, and see trends over time.

    SLEEP MONITORING: B-
I have sleep apnea and insomnia issues I need to stay on top of. Since Apple doesn't have its own sleep monitoring app, you have to use a 3rd party app, and there are over 5 to choose from. The AW estimates how much time you spend in the different phases of sleep in the same way the Fitbit trackers do: using a combination of heart rate and motion sensing. In theory, they should all produce similar measures, but they vary widely. I have 5 sleep apps installed on my AW and they all give different estimates of how much I sleep and how much time I spend in deep sleep, REM sleep, etc. The apps present the information in different ways, and I think none of them are as easy to understand as the Fitbit's sleep tracking reports.

    MUSIC & PODCASTS: B
You don’t need the AW with cellular service to enjoy music and podcasts on your AW; you can pre-load them from your iPhone. This process is easy but transferring music to the AW occurs over bluetooth and it’s very slow. Once you have content on your AW, you can listen to it without any internet connection, you just need bluetooth earphones, which is great for exercising and running.

    TEXTING & EMAIL: B-
Your AW can notify you when you get a text or email. You can read your texts and see any photos that the sender attaches to texts. You can read your emails, including more visual ones that include pictures and formatting—within limits. There are two problems. First, with the non-cellular AW, emails and texts go to your AW through your iPhone, via Bluetooth. So, if your phone is off, or you don’t have it without, you won’t get texts and emails, even if your AW has an active internet connection. Second, replying to emails and texts is very limited.

    WALLET AND HOME: B+
If you use Apple Pay on your phone, you can use it on your AW. Any concert tickets, boarding passes, or gym ID cards that you could put in your iPhone’s Wallet app can go on your AW. If you can use your iPhone to get into your gym, you can probably use your AW, too. If you have HomeKit-enabled “smart” devices, or even just lamps plugged into smart plugs, you can use your AW to control them as well as you could use your iPhone. That’s handy if you don’t have your phone on you (but have a wifi connection). But I pretty much always have my iPhone on me.

    COMPLICATIONS:
The AW4’s larger screen allows for more “complications”. A complication is a little icon you can put inside a watch face that displays a bit of info from the app when you look at your watch. So, for example, you can see the current temperature or how many steps you’ve walked today or your current heart rate just by looking at your watch face, without opening the actual apps that track these things. It is very easy to customize watch faces with complications from your favorite apps. Also, touching a complication on your watch face opens up the app, so putting complications of your most used apps on the watch face is like having short-cuts to your favorite apps at your fingertips. The problem is that complications don’t update very often, so the temperature or step count you see when you glance at your watch might be from 6 or 12 hours ago. You can touch a complication to launch the app and get the updated information. Or you can go into settings and have the complications update themselves more frequently — but this consumers more battery power.

    COMPARED TO AW3 AND IPHONE
Compared to the AW3, many apps work better on the AW4 due to the bigger display and faster processor. If you have used an older AW, you’ll be impressed. I certainly was—at first. Despite the bigger display and speedier performance, much of what the AW does is MUCH better on the iPhone. For example, the AW’s Maps app works much better on AW4 than earlier AW’s, and the bigger display makes a difference. But still, it’s nothing compared to using the Maps app on the iPhone itself. That’s true for many apps.

    BANDS:
One thing I love about the AW is how easy it is to change bands and how many great bands are available in all different price ranges. I have four different bands - the sport band it came with, two very inexpensive knock-off sport loop bands that look and work just as good as the $50 Apple brand bands, and a nice leather one from Pad & Quill. Changing the band is easy and takes 10 seconds. I use different bands for the gym vs. going out to a nice restaurant, and different colored bands for different outfits. Plus, the bands I bought for my AW3 work perfectly well with my AW4. And most bands I’ve tried with my AW4 and AW3 are comfortable.

    BATTERY LIFE:
The AW4 is rated at 18 hours of battery life. I easily get more than this. I wear mine while sleeping and most of the day. I put it on the charger while I’m showering, and maybe for an hour to let my wrist “breathe”. But I can definitely go two full days on a single charge, maybe a bit more.

    BOTTOM LINE:
The AW is great for fitness and health tracking, and okay for sleep tracking. Most everything else it can do is easier and more pleasant to do on the iPhone itself. I consider the AW a really cool piece of tech. But for me, only the fitness tracking is very useful; everything else is cool at first but ultimately kind of gimmicky. On the other hand, for some people, the ability to get texts on their watch is a game-changer.

    Here are a few recommendations:

If you just want fitness tracking and are on a budget, maybe get a Fitbit Alta HR or Charge 3. They’re almost as good as AW for fitness tracking, and better for sleep tracking.

If you’re on a budget, get last year’s model - the Apple Watch 3. It is still a great product, and now it’s much cheaper than the newer AW4.

Most people should probably get the Apple Watch model that does not have cellular. The model with cellular is much more expensive up front, plus you’re paying $12 or so every month ($10 plus every carrier tacks on assorted B.S. fees and taxes), plus using cellular drains the AW’s battery very quickly (e.g., you get maybe an hour of battery life using cellular instead of about 18 to 36 hours using just wifi and bluetooth).
