I bought the Powerline+ after looking for a longer replacement to the lame 3 ft cable that came with my iPhone. I can honestly say this has been the best investment I’ve made in my phone since the Otterbox case I paired it with at purchase. The cord is extremely sturdy, looks cool, and needless to say, is a lot more convenient than the 3 ft factory cable that keeps you within arm’s reach of the electrical outlet.
This cable had an 18 month warranty at the time of my purchase (and may still), and 17 months into owning this cable with no complaints, I started having problems with charging my phone. (In the name of full disclosure, I’m a heavy phone user and charge the battery to full at least twice a day — I believe the gold connectors were chipping off due to this excessive use.) So I filed a warranty claim with Anker, which consisted of a simple, easy to complete form on their webpage. The very next day, I had an email apologizing for my inconvenience and saying a brand new cable was being shipped to me, no questions asked. I was even told to not worry with sending back my old one. The new cable arrived in 3 days and it’s the same great cable I’ve come to appreciate over the last year and a half.
Some people will say that a superior cable shouldn’t have had any flaws over the life of the product. But we all know even the best of products have problems and defects from time to time, especially given the daily stresses I put it through. For the longest time I've always used the regular apple lighting cable with the assumption they were the best. After having gone through so many of them and having lots of them looking like they've been used to tow small aircrafts. They bunched up, got tangled and not to mention the cable looked like it's been up a chimney flume for the past few years. The now off-white, mangled mess of wires got me thinking, there has to be a better cable out there. After buying everything Anker for a while I decided to purchase one of their cables for my car, the 6 FT. After falling in love with that one I got a 10 FT one for the house and oh my, it's awesome! The black and red may have matched my cars interior, but in the house it strikes a huge contrast on everything else and it's quite nice. It's easy to spot and if I were to ever take it out with me or have guests over no one can claim it's theirs because this looks nothing like the standard lighting cable. This is also good because it's breaks up the similarly of iPhone users (opening ringtone, anyone? I cannot tell you how many times in a public place that ringtone went off and about 10 people in the vicinity pull out their phones) Aside from these benefits, the durability is a big takeaway here. Checkout counter lightning cables have been nothing but absolute garbage and it's starting to look like people are recognizing that. I guess that's also why anker has 10+ million happy users and counting. This cable feels like it could be actually used as a towing hitch in an emergency, and it's bright red enough to appear to be one for safety reasons. The final, and my favorite thing about this cable is the speed. The charging rate of this, even when using a 5W adapter, is incredible! I would even go so far as to say it can charge my phone at least 10% quicker then a typical lighting cable. Overall this cable was a great purchase in my opinion and will probably last me until the next time Steve Jobs creates a new cable from beyond the grave.

This cable is very attractive, appears durable, and is nice and long. All of my devices see that they are charging when plugged in.
However...when I am using my iPad Pro 9.7" while plugged in with this cable, the charging indicator is on, but the battery slowly discharges. I have used many 6-7 foot cables - I consider them consumables - with this device and have never before seen this. I am placing a pretty serious demand on the ipad, with several applications in background, some of which are processor hogs. Charging overnight while the ipad is not in use appears to work, although I have never timed it compared to other cables.
I suspect this to be a length issue, since the reason I bought this was to replace another 10 foot long cable which exhibited similar behavior. I thought the cable was just failing, now I'm not so sure.
When I use this cable with my iphone 5, it seems able to keep up. I don't think I will be returning it, but being unable to use it while i am working on the ipad is a 2-star deduction for me.
Update 11/8/16: Wow. Anker reads these reviews. They saw mine and contacted me to offer a replacement, stating that they believe the cable to be defective. I am very impressed with this customer service. I'll let you know how the replacement works, but this level of service deserves a star promotion all by itself. One note: the cable has a little tag attached with a serial number. Anker will want that number to assist with their quality control.
Update 11/15/16: Anker sent me a new cable, and I have been using it for a few days now. The new cable performs flawlessly, and I am comfortable giving back the stars I deducted. As a long time IT guy, I never get excited over cables, have always considered them to be consumables, and occasionally see problems with brand new ones. Full credit to Anker for replacing the one I originally bought and doing it very quickly.
