Legal Disclaimer
Maximum wireless transmission rates are the physical rates derived from IEEE Standard 802.11 specifications. Range and coverage specifications along with the number of connected devices were defined according to test results under normal usage conditions. Actual wireless transmission rate, wireless coverage, and number of connected devices are not guaranteed, and will vary as a result of 1) environmental factors, including building materials, physical objects and obstacles, 2) network conditions, including local interference, volume and density of traffic, product location, network complexity, and network overhead and 3) client limitations, including rated performance, location, connection quality, and client condition. MU-MIMO capability requires both the router and client devices to support MU-MIMO. As compared to warranty duration and tech support services that other leading networking and consumer electronics companies provide.

May 2021:
I've had this router in my apartment for almost 6 months, and have almost forgotten I installed it. Which when it comes to internet connectivity is the hope, out of sight and out of mind. I have a fairly small apartment (< 1,000 sq ft) so the signal doesn't need to reach far. I run my desktop computer through Ethernet and all my steaming and accessory devices through Wi-Fi including 2-4 mobile devices, 2 laptops, a Fire TV Stick 2nd Gen, and an Amazon Echo 1st Gen.
Setup only took a matter of minutes to sync up with my complex provider and get the signal going. The password and signal configuration that followed was very straightforward. I only have the 5GHz channel running, opting to close the 2.4GHz channel to prevent interference with other routers and modems in my building. I'm unable to connect smart devices, like Wi-Fi LED Bulbs or Smart outlets without the 2.4 GHz channel, but that's by choice. The Fire Stick and Echo still communicate seamlessly on the 5GHz channel.
I ran a speed test on my desktop during normal use at midday, and then I ran a Steam download of about 1.5 Gb. Keep in mind I was running Chrome with about 8 tabs (including Youtube) on my desktop and my wife was streaming on Disney+ and working on her laptop while the test and download were running. I was getting the full 50-55MBs speed I'm enrolled in, and the download took about 5 minutes. (Pictures attached) So it continues to perform as it should. The download was slow but that was to be expected with the amount of user traffic and only a 50MBs connection.

After more devices are used in the household that signal/bandwidth has become issues, dropped signal also signal is covered by extender happens more often, I decided to change to MESH router.
AUG 2022,
It still works well but the signal is easy to be covered by another TP-LINK AC1200 range extender even I'm closer to the router itself. BTW, I don't mind if the signal doesn't drop...
Consider to upgrade to TP-Link AC1900 or Mesh if prices go down...
5/9/2022 updated:
3 years old and performed solid and well, you can't find better one with under $30 among all routers. It does have distance limitation so I purchased a TP-Link dual band 5G/2.4G extender for bedrooms access.
We have 3 people WFH for past 2 years , it never let us down, Strongly recommended.
2019:
I bought this AC1200 router per cable guy suggestion to replace my 5 years old super reliable TP-Link 300 N router.
The installation is not bad and created dual bands connections are good. BTW, the coverage is not like it mentioned on the product. I have 1400 sq feet one floor unit. We experienced weak signal on bedrooms so I still need to buy a extender.
After AC1200 router and a extender, we are good now. Overall, average but good price.
It was easy to configure, and it's in service as of today. I tested all the features I wanted, and they all work. I have a private network that runs full speed, and the guests share a portion of the WAN bandwidth that I allocate to them. The range seems surprisingly good given the cost, and the rate limited guest network works perfectly. I'm happy so far!
Perfect for a simple small to medium apartment, especially if unobstructed. (i.e This is not a campus network router). I have mine behind a closed bedroom door so needed to get an extender for the 5GHZ to go the full 50 feet to get a strong enough signal to really stream well - (my kitchen table is where my son wants to do remote learning) but I am confident w/o the door/wall impediment it would reach! Note I only have 3 ppl using it at once.
When I upgraded to the AX50, sure I got faster performance but really only on speed tests; it wasn't like youtube was 'faster' or anything. This can handle multiple streaming clients like youtube at once as I stated. Again note the cost.
