Worked Where Another Brand Did Not!
Firstly, let's talk about the elephant in the room, the price. Yes, Wemo are expensive, but the newly designed switches are excellent quality! I typically buy TP-Link switches as I prefer the toggle type button press of those switches compared to the mouse-click style of these ones. These switches come with 5 wire leads - ground (green), neutral (white), hot or load (black), and 2 travelers (blue and red). Compared to TP-LInk, which has 2 wires (neutral and green) and 3 screws (hot or load, and 2 travelers) this switch is slightly bulkier to install. Per my photos, you can see that it's about 1 1/4+" thick, versus TP-LInk at 1 1/8+", versus a traditional Leviton "dumb" switch at about 5/8+". Keep the depth in mind based on how much is already in your wall box - it could be a hard push. (If you didn't already know, you can push wires back into a box with the handle of a screw-driver as it's blunt and gives you some save leverage). As I mentioned, I typically use TP-LInk switches as they are cheaper and also good quality; in this scenario, I had 2 3-way switches and 1 4-way switch controlling some external security lights and had tried a TP-LInk 3-way switch (HS210) but it failed! It would not detect if the light was on or off correctly with all switching scenarios (eg: 4 way in one position, 3 way in another, ... etc). This switch was installed on the load side of the circuit. I was happy that this Wemo switch worked so I stuck with it - automating it in HomeAssistant and using it on a daily basis! I didn't want to go with a cheaper alternative that may or may not work! These switches look similar to my TP-Link switches, have buttons for reset, restart, etc on the bottom, and have a small LED white circle that lights up. Unlike TP-Link, though, the Wemos light stays on when the light is off then gets brighter when the light is on (TP-Link turns its LED off when the lights turn on). Wemos also have the added benefit of a long-press, which can trigger a specific action, based on app configuration (for example, turn off after an amount of time). This can be really handy!I find at times the wemo app can be really slow compared to my other smart lights (Lutron, TP-Link Kasa), but I've learned to deal with it as I mostly control them via the switch or via HomeAssistant. All and all, I would say, these light switches are excellent, but, like most things, they have some improvements to make for them to be "perfect."If you are on the fence about this versus TP-Link, I would suggest to try TP-Link first and then, if that does not work, switch to these.Pictures also included comparing TP-LInk screwless faceplate (included) to Wemo screwless faceplate (included).

5.0 out of 5 stars SO FAR, IMPECCABLE PRODUCT! FITTING THE ENTIRE HOME & SAVING MONEY!
Reviewed in the United States on August 16, 2020
Well, this has been a journey along the way! I've installed "several" different brands of smart wifi light switches and finally ended up with a GREAT and RELIABLE product by Wemo with an easy app to install and integrate on my Android phone! If you're like me, you're tired of lights being left on constantly!!!! This is what prompted me to look for a reliable product to tell me at a glance what lights are on and the ability to use the app on my phone or ask Alexa to turn the lights off! We have A LOT of house guests (family with kids) that fail to turn lights off, any time of the day or night! With Wemo, it's no problem! I'M NOT AN EXPERT, BUT, THESE SWITCHES ARE EASY TO INSTALL.....JUST KNOW THE BASICS LIKE I DO! THEY'RE TERRIFIC AND YOU WON'T BE LET DOWN! Especially the reliability of the Wifi connection, which all the other makers had problems and issues with....NOT WEMO! I can't wait to get the entire home to be retro-fitted and complete this project with "peace of mind!" My ONLY downside to this wonderful product is, they don't make a 4-way switch (3 light switches control the same item from different locations, i.e., ceiling fan)! I'm not sure what I'll do for the 4-way when I get to it! COME ON WEMO PRODUCT DEVELOPERS, THERE'S A NEED!
