I have previously gotten both the 64 Gig and 32 gig versions of this card, one for a Tablet I want to add space to and the other for an MP3 player that can handle a mini SD card and I have been satisfied with the performance of the cards.
For the larger 128 GB card, I have a slightly different purpose. I have a 5.5 generation 80 GB I-pod Classic that recently started having hard drive problems.
So, I initially tried to get a replacement hard drive which was a bit difficult to do since I don’t think the drives are made anymore and you have to rely upon 3PS for the drives. The drive I purchased either was a refurb or not genuine and it didn’t work. Then I tried a ZIF interface SSD from a brand I was not familiar and it didn’t work either.
I then crossed my fingers and decided to go with an I-Flash dual SD adaptor card in combination with this 128 GB SD card as it was listed as being compatible with the I-Flash. This slide into the I-flash slot with no issue and I then connected the I-Flash to the I-pod ZIF cable and hoped. I-tunes restored the drive, the I-pod booted and started immediately syncing my music files to the card.
The card is fast, although I am sure not as quick through the I-pod interface as what this is capable but quick enough for a music player. It synced quickly and copied the files over with no issues. The I-pod behaves normally and plays the music just as it did with a hard drive in it. Sandisk cards have always been reliable and durable for me. Best yet, it comes with a lifetime warranty although I have never had one fail to test that warranty.
5 stars
I have used SanDisk memory cards since 1997 when I bought my first ever digital camera with a whopping 1 MP sensor.
As a professional, I have two card slots, writing to both simultaneously to hedge against any potential failure, but I've never experienced it. Part of that is because I only use SanDisk cards.
My own beef with these cards is the design of the cards themselves: They include a switch to protect you from accidentally writing to the card. Since the cards themselves will go forever, the switch will break off before the card is no longer working. At that point, you still have all the photos on your card, but you have to buy a new one because you can no longer write to the card. But that's inherent in the design, and is not the fault of SanDisk.
I would recommend no other company for storing your precious photos.
Original Review: I had purchased some of these cards last year and they work great. When Amazon had a sale on these a few months ago, I picked up two more. Unfortunately, Sandisk made a change to the controller on this batch of cards, and neither of them work in slot 1 of my A9 or A7iii. Disappointingly, Sandisk's recommendation is to return them and buy the (more expensive) UHS-II cards, but I've already passed the return period. I can still use them in slot 2, but it's unfortunate to have this kind of limitation. Hopefully either Sandisk will publicly acknowledge this issue soon and replace the affected cards, or perhaps Sony can fix the issue on their end with a camera firmware update (though the A7iii firmware was recently updated, and did NOT fix the problem).
