Great clicking sound and amazing build quality!
    4 Stars
Great clicking sound and amazing build quality!
I would honestly rate this a perfect 5 stars were it not for the keycaps and the not so bright RGBs.The keycaps are made from ABS and only the main characters are shine through, the special characters are just printed on which don't show up with RGB lights. One major downside to ABS keycaps is that they tend to get oily really quick. After a few hours of use, the keycaps began to get very shiny and slippery, which detracted from the all black color scheme and annoying when gaming. I ended up swapping the keycaps with PBT double shot keycaps (Monoprice + Razer) to get the ideal illumination and shine through. See pictures of difference.Being the owner of half a dozen keyboards, this one really hit a sweet spot. The media keys are really good and the volume dial is amazing. They don't feel as amazing as the ones in the Corsair K70/K95 ones, but they are decent. The software is also really good and lets you go pretty deep into the RGB light customization and effects. Comparing the Razer software to Corsair's CUE, Razer's software is miles better than Corsair CUE. CUE often crashes and resets macros mid games, sometimes completely freezing the keyboard or mouse (one of my main reasons to switching to Razer KB). I've yet to experience a single crash with Razer's software (use it for some of my Razer mice and capture card). The green switches are similar to blue switches with some notable differences... Using my Corsair K70, E-Element, Motospeed, and Redragon keyboards with blue switches as a reference, the green switches feel a bit crunchy. Its not necessarily a bad thing as it feels slightly different from Cherry Blues, but still clicky and satisfying. This feels more similar to Outemu Blues (found in E-Element, Motospeed, and Redragon), but less clicky (less loud). Cherry Blues sound more like a type writer, Razer greens sound like your finger tips are smashing lays potato chips, and Outemu Blues sound like you are smashing a stack of lays chips per click (much louder, louder than Cherry Blues). Now the brightness was another thing that didn't blow my mind away. I had heard that the 2017 and 2018 Blackwidow RGB keyboards had really bright RBGs. Using my pictures as reference (max brightness), they are not as bright as Corsair K70 or my other RGB keyboards. Not a bad thing either, personally. Since my desk is next to my bed, the slightly less bright RGBs make it easier to fall asleep, whereas others (Motospeed, Redragon, Ajazz) are sometimes blindingly bright at night. Also, if you are wondering whether you should get Greens or Orange switches, I would highly recommend Greens. Having have tried Oranges before (friend's KB), the Oranges feel like gimped Brown or Black MX switches.
