EDIT: Since some people said theirs did include the repeater cable, I ordered another one 3 days later and that one did include the repeater cable. It was a Monoprice USB 2.0 repeater cable packaged separately from the sensor. Once I got the sensor with the repeater cable, this worked great and really improved my VR experience. I think this allowed me to put my 2 original sensors a little farther apart so it was easier to get to the recommended room size. I've had far fewer problems with the Rift losing tracking since I got this extra sensor. Given it's relatively cheap price, I highly recommend it!
Once that condition is met, just re-configure the tracking and guardian boundaries. You're good to go.
First thing I noticed is that the micro stutter is gone when I'm aiming down a scope in Pavlov. I've also noticed that I can actually throw things with some speed now. Before I was running 2 sensors on a 10x15' play area and there were small dead zones I would run into if I got too close to one or the other camera, I was also having an issue with the tracking following my hands properly when transferring inertia to an object. Making grenades just as hazardous for me as the other guy. Not having those issues anymore, so looks like this was a good fix for the little things that bugged me in full room-scale play.
Hope this helps anyone else looking to resolve some of the tiny issues they may have experienced with experimental operation modes on the rift. Or those who were thinking; "Do I 'really' need 3 sensors?".
This device is not wireless and must be plugged into your PC/Mac directly in order for it to work. The package from Amazon does come with an USB extension cord that extends the sensor quite far. I do wish these sensors performed the same way as the Vive sensors, though (those don't need to be plugged in the PC and only a wall outlet, reducing wire clutter).
Overall, I'm glad I purchased it and I'm happy that I can finally expand my play area to take full advantage of every Oculus game and app.
1) touch is better than vive controllers have used both!
2) Rift is cheaper! Less than $700 with room scale and touch.
3). You get more free games and and additional $100 toward games on Amazon!!!
4). Room scale on Rift requires less space!
5). Vive is buggy. My vive kept having issues staring apps after a few days (why I returned it)
6). You can play most if not all of the Vive games on Rift AND YOU CAN STILL ISE STEAM AND STEAM VR APP IF YOU WANT TO. Does not work the other way (not many Rift games can be played on Vive in many cases).
7). Many more, better games on Rift
8). Rift hardware is more comfortable by a lot and much easier to use and still has better feel and comfort even if you buy the $100 upgrade for vive (deluxe audio strap)!
Where is Vive better):
1). I like the steam "home" app better than Rift BUT you can STILL USE THE STEAM VR HOME APP on Rift!
2). Rift app has to be used on one windows account, no share across family unless you use the same user! But u can use the steam games across accounts using family share on steam.
Anyways, the base is detachable which is nice. I bought a 3D printed wall mount which I used the detached part of the sensor to cover my rear for roomscale. Stock cable size is decent and the bonus cable size is generous.
Setting up room scale with the Rift can be a bit fiddly but the software shows you which sensor to move or rotate if needed. You also need to make sure you have the USB bandwidth to accommodate the third sensor. This should be a USB 2 port as putting a third sensor on a USB 3 port is too much for a single USB 3 controller. The difference being that the sensor sends raw data to the PC when plugged into USB 3 and compressed data when using USB 2. In practical use for me the room scale tracking seems to work very well in the approximately 12x10 foot area I have defined with 2 sensors on USB 3 and one on USB 2.

To be honest, I was achieving pretty good room scale with just 2 in opposite corners. There was no noticeable improvement with 3 besides eliminating a small blind spot in one corner. Would not say it was necessary.
