I LOVE IT
I have to say upfront - I don't like coroporate, hermetically closed stuff like anything by Apple or in this case, Amazon. I like having devices on which I can put anything I want and use it. But...I was a fairly happy user of a Nook Touch for several years, but couldn't use all its functionalities since I live in Serbia. Then I lost the Nook and since no other devices can actually be fully used in Serbia (buying books with them, using their online capabilities) except the Kindle, and since no one except Amazon ships to Serbia, and since I've actually been a happy Amazon customer since 2005 over friends' accounts and since 2007 through my own, and since the Kindle definitely has the best technology - why not buy it?So I did. What I read in many reviews about the screen/light of the Paperwhite and similar devices was no problem with mine. The light disperses just fine, except a few black blotches (maybe you can see it in the picture) at the bottom of the screen, which are actually shadows of the black plastic casing and thus can't really be avoided. As you can see in the picture without the light - there are no blotches with light out.The Paperwhite's screen is just marvelous at 300 ppi, the touchscreen works just fine, the store works here in Serbia, and in these two days I've been using it, I'm a happy guy.I had to get the hang on how to make sideloaded books behave at least almost like Amazon books, but that's fine. That's the one thing I'd like to see Amazon do in some future upgrades: make the Kindle treat sideloaded books just like the ones bought from them directly, with sharing funcion (quotes and Goodreads) enabled and so on.The size is perfect, it sits very well in the hand, the light doesn't hurt the eyes in the dark (like the light on a tab does)... the packaging was fine, no problems there and what remains to be seen now is the battery life.So far, I can only recommend it.

Amazon immediately helped me replace my Paperwhite when they saw my old review where I said mine had a crack on the screen when it arrived. Their excellent customer service combined with the features of the paperwhite makes this Kindle stand out. Now this review is intended for South Africans since we also have the option to buy this product from other local stores, but Amazon's quick service makes it worth buying. It took less than a week for my replacement to arrive in my country (South Africa). Yes, you may try to buy it from South African stores, but they will never be able to replace the kindle so rapidly as amazon self. It is also cheaper to buy on Amazon.com. The South African stores are just ripping people off.

Now let me give a quick breakdown of the features I like:

1. Kindle store which makes purchasing books super easy.
2. The fact that you can read mobi and pdf files too
3. The display is beyond amazing. It may seem small but it does it's job perfectly.
4. That instant dictionary and the ability to take notes of books.
6. The light that works so well in the evening.
7. Page turning is instant

I have also learned that if you clench the kindle too tight with your hands, it will hurt your hand, but it is super comfortable when you hold it right. I wanted to write about battery life, but I have only had my kindle for a few days now and the battery is still full. So it seems that the battery works as advertised.

Once again, this product gets 5 stars because of the support employees at amazon who helped me with my Paperwhite issues. Shout out to Amazon for caring about their customers.

This is one amazing product. It's very convenient to have all books in one place so caring many thick books is thing of the past with Kindle. Built in dictionary is very usefull especialy if your primary language isn't english. You cam ajust font size so no matter if you have trubles with sight or 20/20 vision you will be pleased. I recommend getting model with built in light so you can read even in dark. Kindle really doesnt have glare so reading experience is sooooooooooo much better than with tablet or phone. Batery lasts for ages but have in mind that is dependent on light but even if its always on it lasts long. Check what colors are avalible I ordered black and later saw that different models come also in white. Great thing that I saw after purchasing it is that you have a really low prices for classics and for other books there are always discounts so make sure you subscribe to Kindle newsletter. Also you have great option just click on the footnote and it will apear. You dont have to go to the back of the book like with regular books. Also check with your country's customs service do you need to provide some papers in order to get throw custom. I would also like to compliment Amazon customers service they were of great help to me. Shortly buy it you wont regret it!!!
