Kidde Worry-Free Digital Carbon Monoxide Alarm
Kidde Worry-Free carbon monoxide (CO) alarms offer 10 years of continuous detection from the leading cause of accidental poisoning deaths in America – carbon monoxide. The UL-listed alarms are the first and only models to contain a 10-year sensor as well as a sealed-in lithium battery proven to power the alarm for a decade. These two state-of-the-art technologies combine to create a premier level of protection. Digital Display Screen clearly shows the level of CO in that room and updates the reading every 15 seconds. Homeowners have peace of mind knowing their CO alarm is always on, and they never have to be hassled by low-battery chirps or battery replacement. Until now, a CO sensor operated for five to seven years, based on the manufacturer. The Worry-Free alarms last nearly twice as long as the average model.
Long-Life Sealed Lithium Battery: Why It’s Needed
Each year, fire departments respond to an average of 72,000 CO poisoning incidents, according to the National Fire Protection Association. Known as the ‘silent killer,’ carbon monoxide is odorless, tasteless and invisible. The only safe way to detect it is with a working CO alarm. Industry surveys find approximately half of U.S. homes have a carbon monoxide alarm installed, most of those are battery-operated. A recent survey conducted on behalf of Kidde found homeowners’ number one fire safety complaint is a low battery chirp.
Worry Free Benefits
The C3010D carbon monoxide detection unit provides one decade of protection; the sealed lithium batter provides 10 years of continuous power. It is also both maintenance-free and hassle-free; never replace a battery during the alarm’s operating life and no need to worry about the batteries being removed. Additionally, this Worry Free unit is the longest sensor life available and is proven effective for ten years with quick and easy installation by simply sliding the alarm onto the mounted bracket which activates it automatically. Money savings: no batteries to buy and replace every six months, save up to $40 over the life of the alarm.
What's in the box
One single Kidde Worry-Free Digital Carbon Monoxide Alarm. A ten-year limited warranty.

I always have these with me on trips . . . and had 4 of these packed in my carry on (since they contain batteries) together with my lockstays (prevents people with keys entering a house while you are in it) and my bed bug detectors.
Initiated them upon our arrival and slept with peace of mind throughout the 7 days of our trip.
SO easy to initiate . . . just slide the back panel into place and done . . . the green light will blink intermittently when working.
These are now a part of a safely arsenal while traveling.
NEVER take a chance with the lives of your family during travel. And NEVER assume that the owners of the place you are staying do the right thing . . . if YOU ALL DIE . . . it will be presumed an accident. YOU will all be DEAD and they will go on living their lives.

5/23/19 update: during a work project in the attic, our house detector went off. The house detectors do not have levels to read . . . so I grabbed these travel ones and set them up . . . one in the attic and one in the house. The attic read 144 and the house 58. Immediately evacuated all workers from the premises and worked to discern what happened. Was about to pin point the location by placing these readers in different spots to ascertain different readings. Once the area was located and fixed . . . set these around the attic and house again to monitor readings every hour. Levels down to 51 from 147 in attic within 2 hours.
I will NEVER be without these in my house for readings when there is an issue. Scary to say the least . . . but it was wonderful to have these for accurate readings while waiting for trained professional to show up with his "official" reader to confirm. Buying 2 more as back ups.
After learning that the meter displays zero unless it senses CO greater than 30 PPM (or register a peak of greater than 11 PPM), I thought I would need to test it where there is a decently high concentration of CO. I went out to my car, started it up, and held it right behind the tailpipe for a good minute. Nothing. Still zero on the readout and still zero on the peak detected (meaning it never detected greater than 11 PPM)
I am not an expert, but I would have guessed that there should be greater than 11 PPM at a tailpipe exhaust, even when idling. I plan to look into this further. I will update once I learn more about this.
Update
After further research, I learned some proper ways in which to test a CO alarm. The test really needs to be done in an enclosed space. The easiest way is to take a large lidded pot, (such as a stock pot) put the alarm and a lit candle inside and close the lid.
After a about a minute, the candles uses up all of the oxygen and emits CO as it extinguishes. In my case, the alarm registered a reading in the 50's after a minute or so.
It Works.
Reviews on the model seemed good and I wanted one that is battery powered and portable to be placed anywhere. I wasn’t sure about the lithium batteries but the ones with replaceable batteries are out of stock so I went with this one.
Opened package, (mfg date 2/2108, not bad but not great since it’s already Dec 2018.), activated it and all worked properly, display at zero.
I wanted to be ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN the CO sensors were working properly so I did the candle test. I placed the unit in a stainless steel kitchen pot along with a lighted tea candle. Placed a pan over the lid to create an air tight environment. And waited about 3-4minutes. When I opened it back up the sensor was reading 90. Over the next 2-3 minutes, it rapidly went back down to 0. After it went back down to 0, I pressed the peak level button and it showed 90.
So now I feel confident that this unit does what it’s meant to do. I can’t speak yet to battery life since I just got it.
This is great because the digital display is constant and can be seen at all times.
Highly recommend getting one of these for every bedroom in your house and placing it next to your bedside.

I have owned several of the Kidde ( pronounced KID-AH ) larger plug in type Carbon Monoxide detectors ( square and with a 9 Volt backup- approximately $70. ) and as they state you will get approximately 7 years before they start to chirp every 30 seconds indicating that the unit needs to be replaced. For less than $50. though you can buy this model and its totally 100% portable and can be placed anywhere in your home ( on a shelf or out of sight ) and it will last 10 years with its sealed 10 year lithium battery. To me that is a better buy at less than $50. There is no green light that stays on permanently as indicated in the advertisement photos. The green light in the top centre position only flashes every 30 seconds and the numerical screen in the centre of the unit never lights up but does display LED numbers. The wall bracket is simply taped to the back of the unit when it arrives. You must slide this wall bracket plate into the unit ( from the bottom up - slots on both sides ) in order to power the unit on. I hope you enjoyed my review and it was helpful.
