I feel Anthem has gotten a lot of unfair reviews on the internet. The Pros and Cons section is listed in the next paragraph below. I heard the story EA & Bioware Exposed By Kotaku On Anthem, my heart goes out to the common employees who worked on Anthem, the stress that upper management of Bioware and EA caused! You don’t need to buy an expensive Video card or CPU for this game to run correctly. My guest computer is a (I5-2400,16 gigs and 1050ti) and runs the game smoothly on medium settings and it looks great. Yes, this game could be better, but worse than average co-op game no way! If you know you are going to like a game or not in the first 24 hours, then get the game on EA Origin. This has the great game guarantee, meaning basically, refunds can be made within 24 hours launching the game for any reason.

How I based my ratings below. I am Pc gamer and I love co-op games (meaning you can play with friends against the computer with great graphics to it). I am not going rate this game base on single player games or Strategy games like StarCraft 2. Some of the games I have are, all the Borderlands games love that game, Left 4 dead 2, Tom Clancy’s the Division, Far Cry 5, Destiny 2, Diablo 3, Resident Evil co-op games, Dragon Age Inquisition, Overkill the walking dead, Anthem. I consider the Borderlands games gets almost everything correct, the graphics could be better, but I am nitpicking here. What things are important to me are, graphics of the game, can four people play this in co-op, or is it too hard, is the plot interesting or is it funny.

The Pros. The graphics in Anthem is amazing. Videos from Bioware showing Anthem is accurate for what the graphics looks like. It varies in the game; some world environment looks amazing and some things looks kind of weird, this goes the same with creatures in the game. I have fun playing this game with friends. Gameplay has interesting characters, a lot of them are wild creatures. Gameplay is in the country side, hill/mountain areas, in caves, on the water, under water but no fighting under the water though. It does have some urban areas where you can fight, but it looks like they are over taken by nature over time. The best graphics looking gaming in a 4-player co-op adventure game, the only game that comes close to it as in graphics is Far Cry 5 and in that game, you can only invite one person to the main story campaign. They are adding new content all the time; in April a new strong hold is being added to it.

Negatives about the game. To start out with, the game is in third person, I wish it was in first person, so many games I like are in first person. When you get new guns from the loot in the game it looks the same as your old guns but that is starting to change now. In the last week I got two somewhat different types of looking guns, one thing these two guns have compared to other games is that it has so much more detail in them. Some people complain about the load time, Anthem load time can vary from 22 seconds to 48 seconds on a SSD drive, a little bit longer than other games, so I am kind of scratching my head on that one, if missions were longer, I don’t think people would have problems with it. Playing a stronghold mission by myself (this almost never happens) I must set the difficulty level down by one notch. The town Fort Tarsis is in first person but you can only explore it by yourself only, every other co-op game except for a few you can be in the same town as your friends. I am not talking about making the town look like what is in Destiny 2 where there is like over 10 people in it. Just having your friends in it that is all is needed, make the town fit four people in it. I have a 2k monitor and lowest I seen my fps drop to is 55 fps that’s on ultra-settings. if you are looking at E3 2017 video of Anthem then you will be disappointed, because the game doesn’t look like this.

Finale verdict, fighting game play is about an 8 out 10, the plot interesting or is it funny is about a 6, The graphics I would give a 9. Some missions are too short, they need to add more Strong Hold missions and more interesting mission to it, I heard more are planned in the future. It would have been better if there were fewer mission but longer mission lasting about 50 minutes with multiple check points in it. Left 4 dead 2 this only had 5 campaign mission when released, it got more campaign missions. What is listed here are one or multiply things that other co-op games don’t have. Pluses to this game are the graphics looks gorgeous, Anthem wins easily in graphics area. Playing with more than one friend at a time or If you are only one playing on the mission, it self-adjusts game play for one player, so it isn’t too hard to play. Anthem has different difficulty levels to it, so if you are novice or expert you can have fun with this game. Side notes, you should have more than 8 gigs of ram and check your antivirus settings, I had to turn Acronis Active protect antivirus feature off, otherwise it gets low fps. So far so good.

Game was completely unplayable. Nothing but bugs and crashes. When it did play, the game was aesthetically pleasing but missing a soul. I don't know what happened to this would-be game of years past E3. Amazon customer service was completely unhelpful in refunding this unplayable game - even after an associate promised me a refund. Keep in mind, this game is being refunded by Sony if you purchased it through them; and even EA will refund it if you ordered it through Origin. Extremely disappointed in the game and Amazon. I have removed my Prime subscription in response. (Watch this review not even get approved since it mentions criticism of Amazon)

Note: I'm giving my review a 3/5. I like the concept and mechanics, but we'll see how it grows.

So only just getting started with Anthem, but here's my take so far. Environment graphics are amazing. NPC movement and facial animation is really impressive. Visually, it's a pretty good experience. Controls aren't bad, but if you've played other MMO's with flight, it will take a while to get the hang of using your Javelin's flight capability. The abilities are interesting, and overall mechanics seem to work pretty well. Like others have mentioned online, there are some similarities between Anthem and Destiny 2, but where much of D2 is open world and easily explored alone, Anthem seems to push hard to make you group, like it or no. Freeworld content is subject to matchmaking, so even quests that would seem to be solo, you will be grouped with others. Granted, you aren't required to stick close or even interact with the other 3 players you are sharing the zone with, but as a player who likes to explore and take my time, it seems like a real kick in the face from Bioware.
Dragon Age and Mass Effect were, in my opinion, great series. ME, especially, gave players immense amounts of lore and areas to explore. Given the focus that Bioware put into making this a visually appealing game world, making it more difficult to explore and enjoy that world is counterproductive. I realize that Bioware feels that this game is best played in a group or with friends, but to make it so that the only way to be able to play is in group, they limit the enjoy-ability. When i'm ready to hit dungeons or raids, I'm good with grouping up. But it shouldn't be the only way to play.
For a game that has only been out a few days, it has gotten some mixed reviews. I think it has some great potential, and am willing to see where that goes, but I've never been good with being forced to do things, and mandatory matchmaking kinda seems like it will be a deal breaker in the long run.

I have spent already over 50 hours on the game. Which comes to about $1.30 per hour for entertainment and I plan to put many more hours into it (So much cheaper than a movie at the theater). Most of the negative reviews seem to be from non-functioning games which isn't a very accurate rating, but understandable. I would not be happy either if the game didn't work. The graphics are amazing, the story is there, the combat is good. Much better than the start of the original Destiny (I never played the second so I can't compare the two). I look forward to where they are going with the game. The microtransactions are for those who don't have time to spend on the game to earn the skins. It takes about 31 hours to earn 61,000k coins (In my experience) which is equivalent to $8.50 USD. So you could work in the real world for an hour or two to purchase the skin or earn the coins in game. Really up to you.

Overall I really like the game and have high hopes for the future!
