Upgrade your system performanceThe adapter enclosure allows you to install two 2.5" SATA drives into an internal or external 3.5-inch bay, such as a drive drawer caddy or tray, or 3.5" drive enclosure. To utilize the full speed potential of your SATA III hard drives, the drive converter supports SATA III for transfer speeds up to 6Gbps. Suitable for drives with a height of up to 9.5 mm, virtually any 2.5" SATA drive can be made to look and function like a 3.5" drive. |
Enhanced performance and data redundancy with RAIDEquipped with hardware RAID to provide improved performance and data redundancy. Supports both RAID 0 and RAID 1 as well as Spanning, and JBOD, and lets you choose your preferred backup mode by simply adjusting the RAID setting switch. The RAID 1 functionality is ideal in a hot-swapping server environment, providing a level of security and reliability to your data through data redundancy. With RAID 0 support, you can combine the storage capacity of the two hard drives and achieve faster read and write speeds. |
Easy and flexible installationYou can install the adapter enclosure into a desktop PC or server. It offers flexible use in hot-swap bays or in a more fixed, permanent installation in a 3.5” hard-drive mounting bay with standard mounting holes. Once installed, you simply slide two 2.5” HDDs/SSDs into the adapter enclosure, with no tools required. The aluminum housing protects installed drives in a durable enclosure. |

The big advantage of these converters is they allow air circulation across the SSD. All the trayless 3.5" bays have rear-mounted fans that draw air from front to back, and these converters are designed in such a way as to make good use of this cooling air. This a big relief because even though SSDs (and regular 2.5" drives) are low-power, they can still generate enough heat in an enclosed space to cause damage.
Out of curiosity, I tried fitting the converter into an internal 3.5" bay, and the holes were indeed a tad bit off (enough to have to break out a drill). Still more curious, I scrounged around and found 3 old cases with 3.5" floppy bays. Voila. The holes aligned perfectly and the fit was spot on. I guess the lesson here is if you're drill-challenged, find an old case with a 3.5" floppy bay.
I like these converters so much, I'm buying a bunch more.
Oh, one more thing, inserting and removing drives into the converter can get kind of sticky. It takes patience and gentle rocking motions.
the system is a tad cheap in design as the door latch is very cheap and I am suprised I have not actually broken it yet, but for the parts that matter they did good, it slides in any 2.5" sata drive and makes it look like a plastic 3.5" sata drive in all dimensions that matter, it includes a "drive connected" light that uses the activity pin and is kinda useless(they didn't make it react to changes of that pin) but other than quirks like that it is perfect for putting 2.5" drives into a 3.5" hot-swap type tray
One suggestion I have is to “Disable” the hot swap feature on your Primary or system drive SATA channel (to avoid accidentally disconnecting your operating Windows drive and forcing a reboot or BSOD). Just saying….
Most modern motherboards appear to have SATA “Hot Swap” features available. However, as I’ve recently discovered, the default settings in the bios are generally set to “Disabled”. Because my entire purpose for this device is to sort, transfer, copy, consolidate and duplicate info from many separate drives and formats onto fewer media types, I needed the additional speed of a direct SATA channel communication.
CONS: The plastic construction "feels" flimsy and weak. Be careful opening and closing the converter door, the hinge is plastic and secured only with a thin metal screw. Not sure how long it will last but take care regardless!

I wish they made a version that converts 2.5" sata drives to IDE. I could throw it into my older systems or my Playstation 2. It wouldn't even be that much work to repurpose the design. Think about it, Startech!

Sul sito viene confermata la compatibilità con le unità SAS a patto che queste siano compatibili con i controller SATA ma non vengono elencati modelli compatibili:
"Although mobile racks can enable a Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) drive to connect using a standard Serial ATA (SATA) connector, the hard drive controller must be SAS compatible to properly support SAS drives. SAS controllers can work with SAS and SATA drives, but most SAS drives will only work with a SAS controller."

Semplice funzionale ottimo raid 1.
Peccato per i led che non sono sull'anteriore.
