Have moved on to other versions with more base but these will be used for speakers on tv or in the bathroom where I don't want to take a more expensive electronic item.
I have a few of these throughout my house. They work pretty well. Set up routines through the app, add new devices, etc is all pretty straightforward. Sometimes she will randomly listen unprovoked and say something dumb like 'I'm sorry could you repeat that' or something similar. Some of the routines for some reason have low sound, but when I want to listen to music it's fine. All in all, if you decide to go with an Amazon smart home, I would wait until the devices are on-sale. I don't think I would be pleased if I spent full MSRP on any of the devices. I would also look into Google products. I really think they have an edge on the smart home market in terms of functionality. But for the price, Amazon products are fine. But research before you invest.
Love my echo dot and love the bulbs. I no longer have to manually turn the lights on and off in my bedroom which is great for when you're in bed and don't want to get up.
The Echo Dot is great for listening to music, hands free. Sync'd mine up with my Spotify account and I've got nearly every song ever recorded to choose from.
Sound quality is solid considering the small size of the unit.
