Less Strain, More GainThe Rockwell 4-1/2” compact circular saw is about 50% lighter than conventional 7-1/4” saws. |
More ManeuverableOur compact circular saw weighs only 5 lbs, so it’s easy to transport and maneuver, especially overhead. |
Get a GripThe slim, inline grip design provides great comfort, balance and control. |

See ClearlyThe left-handed blade design provides remarkable cut-line visibility. |
Good on WoodThis saw was born to cut wood, especially 2" nominal lumber materials – breezes thru 2x4s in a single pass. |
Small Size, Big PerformanceThe 4-1/2” blade has a kerf less than half the thickness of larger 7-1/4” blades. The smaller, thinner blade means less effort and motor strain so the 5-amp, 3,500 rpm matches the performance of full-size circular saws. |

Product Description
The Rockwell 4-1/2” Compact Circular Saw is an effective and hassle-free replacement for a traditional circ saw. Just grab it and go when you need to make some quick rip or plunge cuts—no need to lug out the bulky full-size saw. Even though it has the functionality to handle all sorts of projects, this saw was made for 2” lumber, cutting 2x4s in a single pass. Its lightweight design (only 5 lbs) allows for better control of the tool so you can operate it with just one hand. And it makes overhead cutting much more of a possibility than with a full-size saw. The grip is comfortable to use for extended periods. And the smaller blade allows the 5-amp motor to spin it up to 3,500 rpm, achieving the speeds of much larger saws while putting less strain on the motor for more efficient energy usage and increased life of the tool. The easy to access depth adjustment lever allows for a maximum cutting depth of 1-11/16” at 90. While the bevel lever lets you make the most common angled cuts from 0-45, with a maximum cutting depth of 1-1/8” on those cuts. Again, this saw excels at 2x4s, but is also awesome on plywood, hardwood flooring, pegboard, dowels, molding and more. Comes with one 24T TCT blade, a parallel guide, vacuum adapter, and blade key.

I did notice that some people complained about the screw that holds the blade being easy to break. I think this is an issue derived from the fact that the screw has reverse threads (need to turn the opposite way from normal). This is to prevent the screw from loosening itself with sawing motion. If someone is not aware of the reverse threads and tries to use brute force to remove the screw then they could break it. But, if you know about the threads and use reasonable force I suspect there is little chance of actually breaking the screw. The screw does have symbols indicating the correct turning directions but people are not normally used to checking the screw for direction of turn; so, it would be very easy to think brute force is needed for a "stuck" screw.
I did get the blade wobble and cutting misalignment, like some people noted, at first; in fact there were points where it was difficult to swivel the blade cover easily, or it would get stuck. I took the blade off to start over from scratch, and noticed that the inner and outer flange were magnetically attracted--in fact, they were stuck together so well that I hadn't noticed they were two separate pieces. I had both of them on top of the blade, which caused the blade to wobble. As soon as I put one underneath and one above, the magnetic attraction did its job--the blade no longer wobbled, the safety retractor slid like butter, and the saw cut a straight line like a boss.
Many reviewers talk about the safety button placement, and how it became a dealbreaker for them. Not so for me. I am used to holding a saw with two hands ("if both hands are on the saw, the saw can't cut you"). As a relative beginner, I am respectfully fearful of the destructive power of these machines. While I am able to depress the safety and trigger at the same time--even though, yes, it does feel rather awkward--I just use my left hand (which normally would sit on the motor housing ) to depress the button while my right hits the trigger. After some practice I was also able to hold the blade protector up while getting at the safety at the same time. Honestly, I love this saw so much that I don't care what it takes--I'll train myself to adapt to it.
Performance-wise, this thing can CUT. Beautifully straight lines. I used the marker at the front of the soleplate and noticed that it was cutting just outside the line into the waste lumber--which is what I was told to aim for. In my opinion, it works as well as my Skil saw, but doesn't scare me as much as that one does--and it's remarkably lighter, to boot. As an apartment dweller, my large Skil Saw seemed unwieldy and out of place, this one cuts just as well, feels just as powerful, yet it's pocket-sized and manageable.
I highly recommend this saw!

This is an awesome saw, it is one handed so you need a little bit of training and get a straight cuts, but after this learning time the cuts are well done and easy, it is really great product, it looks really well made and with quality materials, about the people who said about the problem with screw that holds in place the saw is because they are over tightening it, it must be set with just a touch not tight, due to rotation the screw is tightening so it could be broken if over thigth, for sure the peaple wich is complaining about is because they have not used saw of any kind. I do recommend this product.
