About this ebook

OMG what a story … you seriously need to read this one. I devoured this in one sitting, it is certainly one pulse-racing, nail-biting, gritty read … I thought my heart was going to explode … will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.’ Chelle’s Book Reviews

The suitcase was badly rusted, and took Erika several attempts, but it yielded and sagged open as she unzipped it. Nothing could prepare her for what she would find inside…

When a battered suitcase containing the dismembered body of a young man washes up on the shore of the river Thames, Detective Erika Foster is shocked. But it’s not the first time she’s seen such a brutal murder…

Two weeks earlier, the body of a young woman was found dumped in an identical suitcase. What connects the two victims? As Erika and her team set to work, they quickly realise they are on the trail of a serial killer who has already made their next move.

Yet just as Erika starts to make headway with the investigation, she is the target of a violent attack. Forced to recover at home, and with her personal life falling apart, everything is stacked against her, but nothing will stop Erika.

As the body count rises, the case takes an even more twisted turn when the twin daughters of Erika’s colleague, Commander Marsh, are suddenly put in terrible jeopardy. The stakes are higher than ever before, but can Erika save the lives of two innocent children before it’s too late? She’s running out of time and about to make a disturbing discovery…there’s more than one killer

Brilliantly gripping, Cold Blood will have you hooked from the first page and holding your breath to the heart-stopping and shocking ending.

A dismembered body of a man is found in an old suitcase that's been washed ashore. Foster has never seen anything like this.. and much to her surprise another suitcase had found 2 weeks earlier. It also held a dismembered victim, but a woman. As she and her team start investigating, first to identify the victims, several things happen at once. She is brutally attacked as she is carrying a large amount of drugs to the forensics department. She is taken off the case of the suitcase killings. But that's never been something to deter her from working the case. And there's more than one killer ... and they turn their eyes on the ultimate victims. Although this is the 5th in what has been a terrific series, it works well as a stand alone. There are only a few references to things that have occurred in earlier books, but only small things. I really like the character of Erika Foster. She's an older woman, she's been widowed, a recent relationship has bottomed out and she has no children, She is her job and she does the very best she can, but she also has human failings. Her team is quite diverse which makes it incredibly interesting to see how they interact with each other. One of the killers is just plain evil. His accomplice is a young woman who loves him.. who even becomes a killer to make him happy. Their story runs side by side to the investigation. There's a lot of movement within these pages ... kept me glued to the story. A twist here and there with a very surprising ending. I've been fortunate enough to read the entire series ... keeping fingers crossed the series continues. Many thanks to the author / Bookoutre / Netgalley for the digital copy of this police procedural. Opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

I've read every Erika Foster book and liked each one! I am not typically a fan of series, but Bryndza does a great job with this character. He doesn't over-describe her, and I think that helps the reader get more involved in the story. I find her quite believable, and the stories themselves are chilling, just the way I like my mysteries!
