I bought the echo and the tap at the same time. I use the echo at home and it's wake word is echo and I bring the trap to work with the wake word alexa. It's a huge success lol we all fight over what to have alexa play next. You hear "alexa play this" or "alexa don't play songs for art anymore " or"alexa tell debra to shut up " lol but mostly you hear music and it's lovely. Sound quality is great and by far one of the best investments I've made. Depending on how often we ask alexa questions the battery can last any where from 6-9 hours.Oh and my didn't look used at all. What I don't like though is the mesh ask the way around. Already snagged it and pet hair my lord don't even get me started.

I am utterly in love with this device! The Echo Tap is the impressive little brother to the Echo. Its ultra portable, provides crisp quality sound and comes with probably the best virtual assistant, Alexa.

Dont let the size fool you. This device boasts high quality sound that has a broad range bass and mids that's ultra sharp and clear. I also have the Bose Soundlink II and the Echo Tap blows it out of the water.

The Echo Tap pairs easily with the Alexa app and offers quite a few interesting features. For one, you can enable hands-free so there is no need to press the mic button to activate Alexa. And if you're using it at home, the battery life will not be an issue, just pop it on the well designed charging base. Heck, get two or more charging bases and spread them throughout the house (although the 9hr battery life should be more than enough for regular daily use)

The portability is the what led me to buy the Echo Tap. Think about it... want to have music while you shower? Take it in the bathroom with you. Want to move from the living room to the bedroom and have Alexa follow you around? Go right ahead.

Maaybe if you're living in a large house this speaker may be too under-powered for your needs but I highly HIGHLY doubt it. You only need sound in one room really. Why do you need something bigger. And its portable. Just move it closer to you.

IFTTT: Let me talk about this nifty piece of software. Pairing IFTTT with your Echo Tap allows you to add a world of features. Right now, I'm only using it with my Phillips Hue Color bulbs. Hello Future. I have said it up to do pretty cool things. When I say "Alexa Trigger Party Time", the tap sends a request via magic to my hue bulbs and voila, I have a disco going on! I can also trigger different color lights, turn on lights when I get home from work. The possibilities are endless (Please note, this can be done with any Alexa enabled device).

I went ahead and bought a second Echo Tap. I weighted the pros and cons. I could have gotten the Echo Dot, but for a few dollars more I get a speaker. I could have opted for the echo but that's not portable its back to the Tap. Sure, there may be audiophiles who can spot the difference between the Echo and Echo Tap, but honestly, for a regular average listener the Tap is one of the best speakers on the market.

One slight downside is that sometimes the Echo Tap fails to trigger and this is only when I have the music on too loud. And honestly, I think it does a good job filtering out the music and listing for the keyword 'Alexa'.

Is it a good buy? DEFINITELY. Will you regret it? Definitely not.

PS. As with all Alexa Enabled Devices, the Tap also pairs with your Fire TV for hands-free viewing.

I have an Echo and now a TAP. While I fell in love with the Echo years ago, I have to say the TAP is steadily replacing the Echo. I've found the sound to be just as good, and the added versatility of picking it up and taking it to another room, or using it outside has been a game changer. Battery lasts most of the day when I use it outside, sound is good even at 20 yards, and WIFI connectivity is good. I've not tried to link it to my hotspot phone, and haven't taken it to a public WIKI, so I can't speak to connectivity or reconnecting to the home network.

An interesting note - I have a soundbar for my TV with Bluetooth capability. Linking both the Echo and the TAP was extremely simple. (Hint: use the phone app). Dramatically augments the sound - just be aware, the TAP and Echo speaker is disabled when using Bluetooth, it's a little weird at first when "Alexa's voice" comes from the other side of the room

I haven't yet purchased the silicone protective case - i treat it like any electronic device. I carry it and set it down carefully - may not invest in the case - we'll see. Setup was a mirror image of the Echo.

With the basic subscription, I can only use one device (echo, tap, kindle) at a time. The more people in the family who find a use for these devices, I suspect the more irritating this might become.

Also, the Alarm function works pretty well. It's kind of nice to just say "wake me up at 7 a.m." and it's done. Several different "sounds" and a few "celebrity" wake up options. I'm still paranoid about the snooze option - check with other owners as I haven't yet tried this

Are you kidding me? I watched the Youtube videos on this product. I read the reviews. Comparatively speaking, the reviews tended to lead me away from purchasing the Amazon Tap. When I came across the "Certified Refurbished Amazon Tap", I said, "Why not". I wasn't sure how tall the Amazon Tap was going to be. The indication was that it was the height of a pencil. Somehow, that didn't register. When Amazon delivered the Tap two days later, I was surprised that the box was so small. I thought to myself, "What have I done"? I opened it and was just amazed at how well built the unit was. I held it in my hands and could feel the quality. Performance, though, would be another issue. I had watched Youtube videos that marked the audio quality down, so I was a little concerned. The first time I pressed the microphone button, Alexa's voice sounded like it was coming from an audio booth in a production facility. Of course, this must indicate to the reader of this review that I'm no audiophile. The sound and the power of this product overwhelmingly exceeded my expectations. I live in a 3400 sq. ft. two story home. To check how well the Tap picked up the Wifi signal, which is located at the opposite end of the house, I moved the TAP to the master bedroom at the opposite side of the house. I asked Alexa to play NPR. Click and Clack was playing. I turned the volume all the way up and went downstairs to see if I could hear the "Car Show". OMG. The Amazon Tap is a great product. It is worthy of your money. The best part of the Tap for me is that I can take it all around the house, even outside, and play music through it. The music sounds good. I'm happy. You'll be happy with the feel of the Tap, the portability of the Tap, the battery life, the audio quality and the variety of things Alexa can do for you now.
