Questa forse oggi è una delle domande più attuali alla luce dei tanti fatti di cronaca che accadono purtroppo sempre più spesso.
La famiglia è una di quelle come tante, con i suoi problemi, con segreti nascosti, che nell'evolversi della storia vengono allo scoperto inevitabilmente.
Nick , marito insoddisfatto dalla propria realizzazione personale di scrittore, che si ritrova a fare le veci della moglie, proiettata in una carriera che la porta spesso in ufficio e di conseguenza fuori casa, nonostante abbia fatto enormi sforzi per avere Ellie, una bimba di 5 anni, che una mattina scompare dalla macchina del papà, che la lascia sola solo pochi attimi per rientrare in casa a prendere un disegno che la bambina ha dimenticato e che vuole assolutamente.
Da qua iniziano a scatenarsi una serie di eventi, che porteranno Tasha, moglie e madre , a cadere in un baratro di rabbia , disperazione , sospetti, analisi introspettive verso sè stessa ed il rapporto matrimoniale, e Nick, di fronte ad una terribile scelta: rivedere la figlia , ma uccidere la moglie.
Il libro è scritto bene , i personaggi molto ben delineati, nella loro angoscia nell'affrontare ognuno i propri demoni, thriller psicologico adrenalinico, che fa riflettere quanto la mente umana possa essere complicata e imprevedibile, a quanto come essere umani, in certe condizioni estreme , possiamo subire profondi cambiamenti.
Non ho dato 5 stelle , perchè sono d'accordo con chi ha scritto che il finale è stato un po' frettoloso, rispetto alla evoluzione di tutta la trama

In effetti non è corretto far saltar fuori un colpevole senza averne parlato in maniera esauriente nel corso del libro. Indubbiamente l'autore stesso ci rivela che "Quello che mi mancava, però, era il finale. O meglio, un finale ce l’avevo, ma non riuscivo a trovare un modo soddisfacente per inserirlo nella trama."E ciò,a mio parere, ha penalizzato il romanzo.

L’ho letto in una notte. Non potevo staccarmene. Un finale meno frettoloso e avrei dato 5 stelle.
Per il resto: bello!! Suspense Adrenalina Una carambola di sentimenti contrastanti verso personaggi delineati in modo superbo, con le loro contraddizioni, le loro debolezze, i lati oscuri.
Ripeto: avrei preferito che anche il finale fosse altrettanto inquietante..magari un po’ meno “lieto” ma piuttosto pieno di ombre come lo è tutta la storia dalla prima pagina.
