A bit smaller than my standard Ken Ho model

A bit smaller than my standard Ken Ho model
I'm comparing this hand hoe to a Ken Ho model which I have used off and on for years. First off the design is very similar and I am using it just like my other model. It's very sharp, but will dull down I'm sure. If you look at the picture, you can see the difference in size. I prefer the larger size, but when you are using it, I forgot about it being smaller. It works fine. I'm hoping it will last, but for around $9 it's less than half of what I paid for the Ken Ho model. I also have a problem with the red plastic part coming off the wood. You have to re-glue it back on every so often.

the best garden tool for hand weeding!

this product works well for small jobs like some light weeding. I wouldn't use it for anything bigger than that.

Most avid, frequent gardeners discover one or two implements that become all- or at least most-purpose favorites. These hoes are mine. I use them for weeding, digging small planting holes, chopping, scraping, prying or lifting smaller items, and so on. If I'm going into the garden with just one tool, this is it. If I can have two, I'll add knee pads or small loppers.
I've bought these over and over for many years. Usually they last 2 or 3 years, until I bend them trying to pry up a far-too-large rock from the ground, or something like that. I do meticulously clean them between uses (wipe clean and squirt with WD-40) but don't sharpen. They come sharp enough to cut flesh but never have gotten too dull for me to use.
On top of that, they're very light weight and very reasonably priced.
Please note, they are a HAND TOOL. If you want to hoe/weed while standing, these aren't the right choice.

This is my second purchase of this product. My first one is still working great; I just leave it around and can't find it all the time! I ordered a couple from a different company and they didn't work at all. This one has a great angle that cuts deep into the ground as you pull it towards yourself. It's amazing!

This is far and above my favorite garden tool. I take it to every garden I work in, both home and away. It replaced a similar tool made by Martha Stewart that I bought years ago, but it holds its edge FAR better and has a wider blade. I like it so much, I bought one for a garden gift basket I'm making for a fundraiser. Last week my first hoe disappeared. I was tempted to just confiscate the one I had purchased for the fundraiser, but instead ordered another. Unlike my old one, this has a very nice hanging hole on the handle and it's going to live inside the house right by the back door from now on. Seriously, this is the most versatile little garden tool you'll ever own. Buy one. Or two.

I got two of these this time (lost one, replaced it, bought the other for a spare). This form of hand hoe has become my total favorite hand weeding tool. This particular model seems to be made of good steel. It is well-balanced & sharp. I would buy it again.
Other considerations:
1. The blade is spot-welded to the metal shaft, which is a weakness. One can get a nejiri gama with the handle forged from the same piece of metal as the blade, but for just over twice the cost (~$11 for this one, vs. $24 for the other at this time).
2. The handle is somewhat shorter than the one on my old tool, which I preferred.
3.The handle has a plastic end with a hole in it for hanging, rather than the hole being bored through the wood. I have had the plastic part come off, leaving the handle even shorter.
So, four stars instead of five. It is a good tool, excellent value for the money, but not the very best available.

UPDATE: It lasted exactly one year, then the weak weld broke & the blade came off the handle.
