I also really appreciated how the case has a fan speed switch right on the outside that I can choose to make use of or not. If I plug into the motherboard 3or4 wire fan headers I'm letting the motherboard decide fan speed. Or I can use the adapters and the case-switch to make my own choices of fan speed. There are definitely times I would rather make the decision myself based on what I know I'll be doing or where I am. So for instance I'm going to do a 1 min skype chat and I need to make my fans shut up for just a min... etc.
All the hard drives just snapped/clicked into place without having to do the line-up-screw-holes-while-balance-a-screw-on-the-tip-of-your-screwdriver balancing act. You've all been there, you know what I mean. Click.. done.
The power supply is tucked nicely into a little wind tunnel at the bottom and cables pop through nice little rubber gromits to the backside for neat cable management. This is a case to show off your leet style.
The only extra effort I needed was I had to extend the 2x4 pin 12v CPU power supply cable so it would reach all the way to the socket on my board. Being an Engineer I just cut the cable and soldered up an extra 6". But For most of you, I recommend either making sure your 2x4 CPU power cable is pretty long or consider buying an adapter to extend it 3-6 inches when you buy this case. At the end of that step I clearly consider it worth the effort because now the power supply and all it's generated heat it kept away from my precious CPU and Video card etc.
There is tons of room inside for lighting effects, huge video cards, cooling systems, and maybe a token to bring you back to the real world from 3 levels deep. The window just begs me to put SOMETHING cool looking in there. Blinky DRAM sticks for the win!
Final note, Whomever designed this case was obviously a gamer because the handles are well positioned and sturdy for carrying your beast to the LAN party for mad props. Additionally the headphone hanger is a nice touch and adds that touch of class during your LAN-fest. If you see a dude with this at the next PAX BYOC section, say Hi! It might be me.
The 3 fans that come with the case (two in front, one in the back) are pretty quiet and provide great airflow. The front panel includes a 3-speed fan switch to control case fan speeds, which is a nice touch. While running a AMD 3900x cup and 2070 super gpu under load, the internal temps stay nice and cool.
The only downside (if you can call this a downside) is I couldn't close the side panel door completely when installing the a Notctua NH-D15 cpu dual-fan cooler in the vertical position; the second fan has to be slightly higher to clear the ram, and so it interfered with closing the panel door. This could easily be fixed by re-mounting the Notctua fans horizontally so that they blow out the top of the case instead of the back. However I decided to leave the 2nd Noctua fan off and only use cpu fan with no obvious loss of cooling. This had no effect on the existing 3 case fans.
Overall I am extremely pleased with the look and functionality of this case.
I got this on sale for about $130 but it's definitely worth up to to $200.
1) The case is huge with good airflow with a partial diverter pannel inside to push air in back of board to cool off the SSD'd and/or HDD - I have 2 of each mounted on the back pannel.
2) buy 2 more fans (be quiet! fans 140mm - trust me) unless you are water-cooling - really not needed (my specs at bottom) I put the 140mm in the front and took the 120mm from the front and put them on top.
3) choose your PSU wisely. some have moduler and are a wee bit short in length on cables if you want to be neat with your cable system. I'm using the 750 gold 80. I tried to be neat - my personal unit.- oh well under desk anyway.
4) Lots of room inside - holds my x570 full board and my RX5700 XT (GPU main reason for case)
5) it has a headset hook you mount on the case - off the desk & out of the way. Love this...
6) 4USB ports on top up front (reg & 3.0 or 3.2 i forget) also mic & ear plugs as well. (has a fan speed switch there as well if you use it)
7) The 3 fans that come with it are NOT 'RGB' if you are into that. - I'm not
OK MY SPECS and temp readings:
X570 Tomahawk - R9-3900X with wraith cooler - i'm not a hardcore gamer so stock fan works great (if you are a hardcore gamer then use the Noctua NH D15 or for lighter gaming Scythe Fuma 2),4 sticks / 32GB RAM total, (2) NVMe 1TB, (2) HDD (2) SSD (.75TB & 1TB) DEVIL RX 5700 XT
TEMPS: with multiple windows & programs running - no videos
system - 32C, CPU - 35C, HDD's & SSD's - 30C to 33C, NVMe's 36C, GPU 39C
Playing World of Warship - CPU & GPU go to 65C Max --- note the 3 fans on the devil hardly ever turn on.
There you have it. Great case with plenty of airflow - no watercooling needed - easier to replace a fan then a water block... 25yrs experience...
Top reviews from other countries
- You can haul it easily with the comfortable handles.
- Both doors pop off with latches, no time wasted on thumbscrews.
- The top and front dust covers pop off with click latches.
- Top and front can fit huge fans so you can give it wind-tunnel levels of cooling while still being almost silent.
- There's room for 360mm radiators on both the top and front, with more than enough space to still fit my 4090 GPU.
- The cable compartment is excellent. Good cable pass-throughs, good width, plenty enough space to mount drives on the back side.
There's just a lot of room in this thing and it makes it super easy to work on. This case is an absolute dream for doing repair work.
I just can't knock any stars off. It is SO ugly but my god it is SO functional at the same time.
